Hi guys I am the guy who applied PR last year of September, nice to meet you this site.

I got AOR(is this same as file number?) end of Jan 2015, and I heard of getting Medical Request soon within few months?

and I have 2 questions here

(1) Should I request bridge work permit now or wait for PR since My visa will expire Aug 15th 2015.

(2) Should I get examined now before I received MR, which speed up the process for PR?

Please advise my friends

Noki

You are entitled to and should apply for BOWP as it is unlikely your PR application will be completed before your WP expires.

I would suggest you also do upfront medicals if you feel all other aspects of your application is in good standing.

i had my medicals on march 11 after MR and my PGWP expiring September still i applied BOWP and u neva know how much time it will take to get PPR

apart from that employer also keeps check on WP expiry and can ask for new one and with BOWP taking 70 days to process , my honest suggestion is to apply ASAP....

Thank you for the quick response.

please answer few more questions.

My PGWP will expire August 15th 2015,

What If I apply BOWP, August 1st 2015 and my PGWP will expire August 15th 2015

Will I be authorized to work in Canada August 16th 2015 ?

I heard that once I apply BOWP, I can work by PGWP even after PGWP expires until BOWP gets issued or CIC rejects my BOWP request.

I want to apply BOWP as late as possible since many people say PR process is talking long time.

Please advise

Best Reagrd.

You should apply for BOWP asap, bcoz right now bowp processing time is more than two months, around 65days. if u apply bowp in august then u will not be able to work without a valid work permit.
To apply BOWP, u don't need any document from ur employer and its really easy to apply. :)

Thank you for the quick response

I saw website, saying that If I apply on line it is much faster....

That's not true. You can still work until a decision on BOWP is finalized after your current PGWP expired. This is called implied status. However, do apply before PGWP expires, otherwise, you don't meet the BOWP requirements.

I agree with CEC2013RAY. I applied BOWP a week before the expiry of my work permit. Mean while, I was on implied status and was working without any issue.

well i applied BOWP because i don't want to loose my job if employer asks to give new work permit and that too for 255 bucks....dont think it is worth it and this happened to one member of forum that he was asked to give new permit by HR and he said that he applied for one and is eligible to work but it totally depends on employer and i don't want any mess......

you are eligible to work once you applied BOWP but sometimes HR wont listen to it and why risk your job for that

I don't care which ever website told you that it is much faster to process BOWP online as the only website that can tell you time is

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

and it say 64 days for ONLINE application ......

rest is upto you.....

Thank you everyone

I got pros and cons applying now and later on

I am going to ask HR tomorrow If they need work permit or recognized implied status meanwhile I have to apply BOPW eventually..

Thank you guys.

see ya

One more pros of applying for BOWP and getting an approved BOWP before your current WP expires is OHIP. I know many wont be using or can avoid Medical Services, but you never know.
OHIP expires with your current WP, so you need to renew it with a BOWP.
if you are on implied status you dont have Ohip coverage.

Hi Noki,

1. Dont waste any time,
You can never predict CIC time lines (Now 65 days can become 100 days aswell in a month). So don't take any chances.
all that stands between a proper work autorzation is $255, which is worth it. Go ahead and apply for ur BOWP.

2.The choice is upto you., you might save couple of weeks.
I am Oct1st applicant and I am in no hurry, So i will wait.
And more importantly, I would like to see the email from CIC asking for my medicals :D ;)
