In your case, you stayed in Canada for 4 days. Did the officer ask you about your stay? How long you are staying? Why only 4 days?

In my case, I am not even going out of the airport. I have a flight to India on the very same day at 2PM. So, if I am not staying in Canada then would the officer have any problem with this?
Also, can you tell me about your experience and what all questions were asked to you in the whole activation process?

Questions were general like if I was refused entry in Canada before or committed any crime etc

Hey everyone, I am planning to do soft landing due to some personal reasons (family issues). As I read from other topics, it is risky to courier the PR Card. So I am planning to apply for PRTD as I don't want to do anything illegal. I'll be completely transparent. I have some questions


1. Once I was living in Canada on temp work permit, they ask for my visa when I was going back to Turkey. They would mostly take a look at my visa. Has anyone experienced any issues when going back to home country?

2. I am going to stay for 10 days and I have already have a bank account in Canada, should I leave my money into my Canadian bank account or can I carry as I am going to apply for PRTD.

3. Is it dangerous to sending PR card through courier?

4. I'll have 4 months to move back for good. How long does it take to get Travel Document PRTD?

If you're doing a soft landing, and going back to say the United States for a few weeks, do you list yourself as a Resident of the US when flying? Will that cause any problems with Canadian Immigration? I'm flying a lot this Christmas so I want to ensure that I'm listing things correctly.

Yes, goods to follow at your first landing, get it stamped at customs. You would need this for your subsequent trips to avoid customs.

Once your COPR is accepted on first landing, you are a resident. Immigration officers are allowing you into Canada as a resident. PR card is just a formality to facilitate further overseas travel and entry back into Canada.

If you are traveling to US before getting your PR card, you would either need a PRTD for public transportation or COPR for private car to enter back into Canada. In either case, you are a resident of Canada and just returning back.

For your first landing at customs, one has to enlist as a visitor or something like that and not as a resident even though you have a COPR and Imm visa stamped in your passport.

Finally, keep track of all dates as this would be needed if you are planning on applying for Canadian citizenship or renewing PR.

So for first landing..incase of soft landing...will they not stamp Goods to Follow list....will this not be an issue later when we are moving for good with our houeshold items

Perhaps you misunderstood. Stamping for goods to follow is done after immigration check. Say for instance, if COPR is not accepted, what is the point of letting one go any further. So yes, they will stamp your goods to follow list at soft landing. At Toronto airport, this was the last step before exiting the airport to get a rental car.

The visitor section of customs form is used before immigration check. This is the form one uses to declare any cash above 10k CAD. When in doubt, one is always a visitor unless immigration officers confirm COPR, initial PR card process etc.

because one could still be denied entry upon landing with COPR like when one fails to show proof of funds, misrepresentation etc.
