Do you know what is the use of PRTD? :)
He is asking where to deliver his PR card in Canada as he doesn't know anybody in here.

PRTD is use to re-enter in Canada if you do not have PR Card. it has nothing to do with the delivery of PR Card.
Do you understand what the OP is asking? He asked for document to return to Canada by air and you told him to go to Buffalo and drive car to Niagara Falls! With PRTD, he can return to Canada directly by air. He don't need to wait for PR card and deal with your suggested service provider.

Read the first post. It is pretty simple to understand that OP is ultimately asking how to return to Canada.

Well, You are giving this person an answer of a part of his questions. Whether I have answered all of his questions and concerns. I agree with PRTD method there is nothing wrong with it. But did you try to answer his concern regarding where to deliver the PR card without knowing anybody in Canada?
Hi all,

I want to do a short landing of maybe a few days or a week. I do not really have 57 days to spend waiting around for the PR card. I do not have friends or family to have it sent to.

A) will my PR have still been activated if I leave canada without the card? Will the CIC officer care that I'm only staying a few days? I don't want to fly all the way there and find i come away without confirming my PR.

B) Will it be difficult to get the replacement papers to return to Canada by air? I am British. He application form I saw seemed pretty long.

C) if I were to stay in Canada and wait for the PR card, does anybody know how I can find cheap accommodation lasting a couple of months? Most search engines only give hotels and hostels. I need a place I can have my card posted to, and somewhere affordable. Like somebody's home who takes in lodgers. Does anybody know how I can find out about such accommodation? Ideally near to Toronto, St John's, or Halifax.

Many thanks
He has three highlighted concerns. He is not only asking about return to Canada but he is showing his concern to where to deliver and He saw replacement document application which he seemed pretty long. PRTD is sure a way there is nothing wrong in it. Which is a common way. I just showed him another way if he doesn't wanna pursue PRTD way.

He don't need to give a Canadian address to deliver his PR card if he don't know anyone here. Read his questions again and my answers again. When he is ready to come back to Canada, just get the PRTD. It's as simple and safer as that.

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for responding to my questions. I've found your different points and ideas, and your discussion, very helpful :)

Maybe the PRTD route won't be such a bad idea, although the po box one is interesting. It's a real pity that cic won't send the pr card to England. I'd happily pay a high fee for this. Better still, not have the card at all, like other countries. I find this whole situation completely absurd quite frankly.

Out of interest -

A) is it definitely ok to touch down and leave a few days later? The cic official won't be bothered about this? Will they ask how long I'm staying for?

B) which photo do they use for the pr card? Is it the digital one uploaded to my cic or a new one I provide on landing?

Many thanks again.

It is called Soft Landing. CBSA officer don't expect immigrants to move permanently right away. They know you will need time to move here. Don't forget to inquire about taxes exemption while you do soft landing as it will help you bringing your necessary belongings without paying any taxes :)

B) which photo do they use for the pr card? Is it the digital one uploaded to my cic or a new one I provide on landing? The one you send for COPR (50mm X 70mm)

Many thanks again.

I'm going to add my reply that once he can stay on a permanent basis, he can inform IRCC his new address in Canada to have the PR card to send there.

The PO box idea is quite plausible with little risk involved. Why the rush to get the card if you are not in a hurry to settle? The cost is a bit high. You are essentially paying for 3 months rental of the box, round trip tickets, hotel/lodging, a car rental and some gas (not to mention your time).

PRTD on the other hand has some advantages. The application is $50 (£29). You can come on your own terms, own time, when you are ready to resettle, and you can apply in London.

Good points, Picklee.

As long as I am definitely a PR without having the card then I like your suggestion. That said, I am increasingly tempted to spend the summer in Canada anyway and get to know the place better.

Does PRTD document has a validity date as in COPR. If yes then anyone has idea of how much it is.
I did a short landing and have returned to my country. Now, I would be going back in 3-4 months. So, just wanted to know on whether to apply for PRTD document now itself or closer to the time of journey.
Applying now gives me the following benefits
- not update address(have still not updated) for PR card delivery. Collect it when I am myself there in Canada
- doubts pertaining to issuance of PRTD would end soon

Depending where you are now, the processing time for PRTD might take more than 5 months, so you might as well apply now.

Read a few posts here and the time is approximately 2 weeks in India so that should be not be an issue. Have sent a PM to them and awaiting their reply as well on the validity part.

Can some one update as We a (family of three ) landed in July 2017 & after completing PR issuance requirement left in 10 days. PR cards for me & my wife delivered at the given address in Canada whereas CIC asked for an updated Photo of my one & half year old daughter. As per DHL tracking it was received there on 21 sep 2017 but still her PR Card is not received.

Is there any way to check the status of PR CARD
