Hello everyone, have a quick question to those of you who have shipped your belongings from your home country to Canada?
My wife is coming to visit with me in Canada on Dec 1st for 6 months, while we wait for her PR. She has placed all her items in storage for now
and will ship her things here once her PR is completed. Anyone have a company they used, (reputable) for door to door shipping?
She lives in Bavaria, Germany and will be shipping to Ontario. Rough idea on costs for an apartment sized load?
Thanks in advance. Patrick

We are going to be using Pickfords from the U.k. They are a worldwide company . Your wife will have to label all the boxes and make two sets of records which they call a B4 form. She will give this to the boarder officer when she lands as a Pr . This is called a goods to follow form . Once your wife has every thing in the storage she can ask for an estimate , they are not keen on giving it over the phone , i have tried . Falling this search Google for your area and see what comes up for cargo to Ontario. Mark each box # 1 to whatever and label contents , don't have to write every item E.G. #1 Kitchen stuff #2 womens clothes #3 books # 4 household ornaments then write on boxes 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4

One of our big concerns is whether the shipping costs outweigh the need to ship. Her personal items such as clothing, chinaware, books and DVDs...along with an antique china cabinet her mother passed on to her are most important to her. The furniture is nice also, but right now not needed and can be repurchased again if needed. We will need to get a few quotes from shippers to see which route we take, hence my question on what companies others have used. Also, thanks to this forum we realized that whatever stuff she does want to ship, needs to be declared upon arrival with documentation when she enters with her PR, or else duty will need to be paid at a later date. This site is a wealth of info. :)
