Hello everyone!

Happy Canada Day!

I would like to share my Citizenship application timeline. It has been an exciting, nerve-racking, and emotional journey for me this past 2 months. After 7 years and 7 months of being a permanent resident, I will finally become a Canadian citizen of this great nation. I'd like to thank the members of this incredible site for your help, for sharing your timelines and experiences, and for taking the time to answer my questions. You guys rock! It made everything so easy and it felt that I was not alone in this whole process.

It only took 80 days in total to finish the entire process. Even I can't believe on how fast they processed my application. I wish and hope that it will be the same for everyone else.

For the future applicants, please make sure that your documents are complete and should cover the entire 6 year period preceding the date of your application or since you became a permanent resident. Provide an explanation letter if necessary. Check and double check the checklist before sending it to CIC. Basically, just follow the instructions and try to send a neatly prepared and a well organized application to them.

21 Apr 2016 Application sent thru Canada Post Xpresspost
24 Apr 2016 Application received (CIC Sydney, NS)
03 May 2016 AOR received
06 May 2016 eCAS active (waiting for "in process" status, still shows "application received")
09 May 2016 In process (eCAS changed to 'in process" status today, May 12)
03 Jun 2016 Received test invite for June 23, 2016 (dated June 1, 2016)
23 Jun 2016 Citizenship Test
26 Jun 2016 Decision Made
30 Jun 2016 Received Oath of Citizenship invite (dated June 28, 2016)
14 Jul 2016 Oath of Citizenship Ceremony

Again, thank you very much and good luck to all!

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline - CIC Scarborough

Congratulations on becoming a Canadian !!

At last someone on this thread who was happy to become a Canadian no matter how long it took whether by choice or not as opposed to some of the bitter people on here continuously bitching about the citizenship changes passing through government at the moment.

Again congratulations !

That is insanely fast, just about two months is unheard of.

Hi MW2015,

Yes, it is insanely fast and surreal. I didn't really expect it at all but I am not complaining. This gives us all an idea that it is possible and shows that CIC actually tries their best to finish all applications in a timely manner given that they meet all the requirements. My case was pretty simple and straight forward.

Hi,

Thanks!! :)

I was a permanent resident for 2148 days. Yes, everything happened so quick and I was really surprised. 80 days (58 days excluding weekends and holidays) went by so fast.
