Hi, everyone. This is my first post on the forum and i think it's nice to share my story and landing experience with you.
Let me start with little bit about myself. I came from Taiwan to study high school back in 2001 when i was 16 and went to university for a year and didn't do well but eventually finished Automotive Tech. in college. Of course, like most of us i applied for 3 years post-grad. work permit, however, due to my passport validity i only got one year and half work permit.
After a year of work i did the english exam and applied under CEC. Here's my timeline
Application sent to Buffalo, USA Dec 15 2009
AOR Received Feb 13 2010
Medical request and RPRF Dec 13 2010
Medical Done Dec 30 2010
Paid and sent RPRF to Buffalo Jan 3 2011
Medical sent Jan 14 2011
Passport request via email on Apr 26 2011
My friend brought my passport to Buffalo, NY to get visa stamped on May 03 2011
Landed at Rainbow bridge on same day
because i haven't complete my country's military service so my passport can only be renew for half-year validity. And i know many people worry you need at least one year validity passport to get visa stamped but this is not true.
Here's my landing experience on Rainbow bridge
I got my passport request via email on April 26, 2011 and since Buffalo office only does visa stamping on Tuesday and Thursday then i took a day off on May 03, 2011.
I booked a hotel in Niagara fall on may 02, 2011 with my girlfriend(she has US visa and i don't). We woke up at 6am next morning had our breakfast then she drove to Buffalo, NY to get the CPR and visa for me. She took QEW to Fort Eric because custom at Fort Eric has less traffic than Rainbow bridge.
She came back around 12 noon and told me officer at Buffalo office didn't even ask her for ID and they stamp the visa and give her CPR in about a hour. PS. My passport only has half year validity.
So, we drove to the US side via Rainbow bridge(it was raining otherwise i prefer to walk) i told the US officer i was there to do the landing. He then told me to park and go to the second floor, we waited for 30 mins the officer called me us in and took my CPR.
He told me to go first floor and wait for him, he then came down told us to get the car and handed us our passport and gave me a rejection letter. He opened the gate we turn left for entering Canada!!
We told officer at Canada side i was there for landing and he told me to park the car again and go to building. I gave my passport and CPR to another officer inside the building and 10 mins later EVERYTHING IS DONE! I waited 497 days and it's finally done!
Remember to keep the part 3 of your CPR(the officer will take the first and second part of it) and you can use that to get your SIN and health plan card!!
good luck everyone
