here's my IELTS experience,
for the Listening test, I focused on listening to the story and writing short notes along the way.
for the Reading test, I jumped to sections having the most questions. I skipped and went back to the questions back and forth. I'm used to reading several stories in one occassion. I can read three different books at a time, so I'm used this technique and that worked for me during the test.
for the Writing test... the task was to create a letter to invite a friend in visiting my hometown... since I grew up in the city, so I thought that's going to be odd. So I imagined myself living in the hometown of my wife. I told myself, I'm good in writing love letters to my xGF (now my wife!) and so I did!!! ;D I wrote a love letter to her just like we were dating and I invited her to go home with me on a weekend to visit my family, friends, the town plaza, the beach... and it wind up as a well written love letter. I even added my "I love you" on my IELTS written exam!!! One way or the other, it gave me just the right scores that I need for my application.
for the Speaking test,... I anticipated that the interviewee is a Filipino like me. When I entered the room, my first impression is that she's intimidating. She looks like a school principal on her late 20's! , So instead of getting intimidated, I said to myself that I can beat her... I'm better than her. When we were almost done, she showed some "uhmmmmss" and inappropriate gestures. It boosted my self confidence a little. Anyways, there was one question that took a strange turn (I forgot the question), and it was quiet challenging, so instead of responding right there, I paused... literally closed my lips around 6-8 seconds! staring at her! She asked me if she would repeat the question, I responded "No. thank you, I got the question". Then I responded with the exact words I was looking. Luckily, it turned out well and I got the scores that I needed.
L=7.5,
R=7.5,
W=6.5,
S=6.5
for Language Ability, I got 16 points for English (perfect score in the assessment). That compensated my Education points which is just 15. If I had failed one of those four tests, I will not be eligible. I just got an e-mail response from the Visa office that they've mailed my medical request and RPRF last week. My agent told me that I'm off the hook, I hope that's the correct assumption!
