Hello all,
I have a visitor visa until Jan 2018 and am expecting an ITA soon at 476. I was planning to submit the e-APR before leaving for India and come back upon receipt of PPR.
But from what I've come to know, if I file in Canada and then go to india, my application could be treated as abandoned.
I was really in a fix as to what the best course of action might be. Is there any advantage of Inland vs outland(india).
Please do advise me seniors calling out Del and Asivad, please help me here ???

Not true.

You can apply in Canada or in India there are no advantages to either one. However, if you're moving to India for good (while waiting for an answer) then you would have to update your address. So that once your PR is approved your case will transferred to your home country's nearest embassy for Passport request and visa approval.

Thanks a ton for the answer , so it's safe to wait till the R10 correctness check and then go back to india to wait for PPR? As I thought it would be better to be physically present here for any coordination if required ( with employer/CIC/RCMP/etc)
And how about the PCC? As it states it needs to be after your departure date , if I go back mid process would that mean my old PCC is void?
Thanks a ton for the answer, can't +1 as the forum doesn't allow a karma action to be repeated within 168 hours :p

Unless CIC has recently changed something that i am not aware of (which is not likely), i will advice against spending majority of time in India while PR is in process, if you apply in land.

The liberty of choosing inland versus outland not affecting the process at all used to be tied to a spousal sponsorship. For the case of a principal applicant it's always tied to your current country of residence. Your security clearance etc. is tied to that. So is your correspondence address.

It is a big mess to transfer a complete processing file unless it was for a genuine change of circumstances. I have seen a few cases and the countless follow ups.

How should the treat your PCCs in that case? Say if you submitted PCCs from Indian embassy in Canada after the date you last left India but now went back there again?

Any of these things and others could come back at the final review / evaluation time and could screw things for you.

True, it doesn't say this any where explicitly that you can't do so. But knowing the process quite well, it would be close to a really lucky case if all of this pans out correctly.

Note that a short trip any where out of Canada during the PR processing is considered different from above.

The case here is that I can't re-enter canada. So in this scenario do you think it's best to file an outland application and stay in INDIA till I get PPR?

I have a similar question

I am expecting an ITA with in the next month

I am currently in Canada but probably will leave shortly, most likely I will do the whole process outside Canada and come back once I receive PR

I was thinking I could do the medical here after ITA and then leave..

Not sure how it all should pan out

Please advise

You can do the medical in Canada that's fine. Make sure you do not leave immediately in case they call you for further tests.

I would recommend submitting your eAPR once you move back home with your updated address. Just be prepared to get an updated PCC.

Cheers :)

eAPR - it is the submitted application for PR.

You do not need a Canadian PCC, i'm talking about the PCC of your home country (in case you already got one).

Oh okay. Yes will do that.

Do you think it will make a difference that I have a study permit and I am not in Canada while my application is being processed.
