Hi folks. I am Srikar and I hail from Hyderabad, India.

I am a B.tech (mechanical) graduate with a Post graduate diploma in the field of Naval Architecture and I have over five years of work experience in total.

My job profile in the previous organization (a private sector company) where I had worked was techno-commercial in nature and mainly consisted of design aspects and business development / bidding/ tendering for various Naval projects.

After that, I had changed my job and I was associated with a Danish MNC (which deals with the manufacture of pumps and associated equipment) for seven months. My job profile in this organization pertained to sales and marketing.

I want to pursue MBA from a Canadian university and eventually work and settle in Canada. I am planning to take GMAT soon. What would be more beneficial and what would you recommend?

1) Apply for a PR and then work for a while and pursue my studies ?

OR

2) Apply for a student visa and complete my degree first and then apply for jobs?

Note: I have taken the IELTS test (Score: Listening: 8.5, Reading: 7, Writing: 7, Speaking: 8 ) in the general training module. Would this suffice In case I have to apply for student visa? or would I have to take the IELTS in academic module?

Best Regards,

Srikar

hi srikar,

If u wanna go as a PR u need IELTS general..............if as a student then u need IELTS ACADEMIC.

I suggest u go as a PR and study than go as a student and apply for PR.

Student life is easy if u have a PR.

Instead of prep for GMAT/IELTS ACad and processing student visa i recommend u wrap work aroung PR as ur profile is great(based on ielts and qualification).........however i dont kno ur age and marital status.

But yes ur chances of PR are high, just go for it.....btw im also from hyderabad.

cheers,
Rrk.

Have you checked out the official IRCC CRS calculator? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp
I definitely think that going the PR -> studies route is the better option, but checking your CRS score will help you understand how long the PR process might take.
