Hi Everyone,

I am striving to apply for Canadian PR in July 2012. I have a query reagrding Settlement Funds.

For how much time (in past) are we supposed to show the funds in bank account?

I opened a joint account (with my spouse) in December 2011. However I started maintaining the required funds from 3 April 2012. Do you people think submitting a bank statement of this account would be OK?

Thanks.

I think it would be OK to just submit an official proof of funds. I got one from my bank before sending my application and it was alright. I don't think they require a history of statements...

you mean a letter confirming availability of funds on the date of letter release would do and account statement is not required. is that so?

I don't think so. They just need to see that you have the money. But be careful not to cheat by asking temporary transfers from friends or family here and there. It may work, but it's not genuine. As such, it may be risky.

Just send a original Bank certification letter and since u applying in July, u can provide 3 months bank statement.......

If the money u showing in ur joint a/c is genuine and not borrowed, even if they ask for source of funds later while processing be ready to prove it

Empirical, why would I do that?? As per my original, I already have required funds in my bank account since April!!

My question is: for how much time (in PAST) are we supposed to show the funds in bank account? Would three months do?

Should be OK, they don't need old funds for skilled worker like student Visa!!
Get recent bank statement with Bank Certificate Confirming all funds in FD,Current and saving accounts..Make sure that the funds should be on the name of Principal Applicant or any dependent accompanying to Canada!!

best of luck
