IP1: 12th Oct (We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.)
NA2: 18th Oct
Below is how my application status reads now, no ADR (Only Additional document was LoE).
Application status We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.
Review of eligibility We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Review of medical results You passed the medical exam.
Review of additional documents The additional documents you provided are being reviewed.
Interview You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check Not applicable.
Final decision Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

additional documents are the files you submitted in addition to your application. So if they request more documents they're still considered additional documents
No additional documents were requested. The only additional document I submitted was LoE.

Again, the additional documents are what you sent at the beginning. They're being reviewed. It's your documents.
I strongly advise everyone to check their spam folder, I got PPR email on Oct 4 th in my spam folder. My timeline is given below:
AOR - Sept 12, 2017
MP - Sept 14, 2017
IP1 - Sept 28, 2017
IP2 - Oct 1 , 2017
PPR - Oct 4, 2017
Passport mailed: Oct 16, 2017

Yes, it comes in the cic account as a mail message. It contains attachment which is downloadable as a PDF. There is also a mail sent to my personal mailbox ID registered with them. The mail is just an alert asking me to log in and check the message.
