Fingerprints are just one aspect of background check. Receiving them may be required to complete it but doesn't mean any particular timeline for completion.

Thought I’d share how my application is going! I was travelling out of country for the majority of November so I did not get a chance to submit my fingerprints or complete my citizenship test until early December.

Type: Online application
Location: Vancouver (Processing centre: Sydney)
Application: Single
Application sent: 2023-09-22
Delivered: 2023-09-22
AOR: 2023-11-02
Background verification: 2023-11-15. Went to a RCMP accredited digital fingerprinting agency on 2023-12-04. Tracker status says in progress.
Test invite: 2023-11-17
Test date: 2023-11-20 to 2023-12-10
Completed test on 2023-12-08; tracker status says in progress.

Language skills: In progress
Physical presence: In progress
Prohibitions: In progress
Citizenship ceremony: Not started

In the same boat. Finger Prints received Nov 30. Tracker Updated 05 Dec. Radio Silence since then!

I guess it's only two of us,, as per forum tracker... its completed in couple of days after receiving FP.


I am thinking whether employment history could be the reason, as three companies are involved in the job I do but I could list only 1 in the section while filling the application.

As mentioned yesterday, on the tracker citizenship test updated / completed dated Dec 12 for both of us.
Also I suppose another ghost update because the updated date on right top corner is Dec 14? Is it possible to get another status soon ?

Well, atleast you guys are close to the finish line. I am still stuck at BG even after Fingerprints received. Curious and anxious because its getting done for 99.99% candidates very quickly after FP.

Not in a big rush as I have no travel plans any soon, But there is this little feeling to get over with it!!!

So if they received your Fingerprints and your background check is still pending, that means they have passed your criminality but security is pending. Security takes around 3 -10 months for get cleared. You can order Cbsa notes to see when security is started. Unfortunately security is done by other agencies and you can’t expedite the process.

Is it true that one of the BG check component (security/criminality) must be completed for the test invite?? or there's no connection at all?

No there is no connection. If you background check is green on tracker, that means you have passed both security and criminality. Test is just beginning part of application. It has no link with other assessments.

Do they always request for finger prints? Coz I'm done with the test but I did not receive request for finger prints.

I can't believe I have waited for the invitation oath letter for a month...that usually only takes a week...
So I guess they just hold people until they back from holiday.

Fingerprints are not mandatory; most people don't get asked. You're all good.
