Are the CIC offices in ON working these days? A friend of mine became a Lawful Permanent Resident of Canada a week ago. She got a confirmation letter and earlier this week she got an e-mail from the Etobicoke office for her landing interview.

Not sure, what is going with the citizenship applications. I mean, it has been almost a year and the Feds should have developed a plan on how to operate/process applications during this COVID-19 pandemic. The current situation is not ending anytime soon either., might as well to adapt to the new normal & work conditions. If they already developed an ONLINE TEST , what's holding their back on sending these test invites to the applicants? I have not seen a clear answer on this from the Feds as of yet. Very disappointing.

I did not get the citizenship certificate today.
After the oath I had to sign the oath paper and scan it to the agent. They told me the citizenship certificate will be mailed to me in 4 to 6 weeks.
@miuonpak what about passport submision? Should we wait to get the citizenship certificate and then go about changing hte passport?

In process: Jan 23, 2020
Finger print request on Jan 27, 2020
Received my online test invitation on Jan 13, 2021
Pass my exam on Jan 21, 2021.

You cannot apply for passport until you get the citizenship certificate. At least that was the rule before COVID when the certificate was given the same day when you took the oath. Technically you become a citizen after you take the oath. But the passport office requires a simple proof, i.e. citizenship certificate. You can call Service Canada to check if they made any changes recently.

@VSw thanks

Anybody here waiting for test invite from Winnipeg office or already got invitation recently from it? Plz confirm...TIA

Thanks for sharing. My wife is also a Sep 2019 applicant for citizenship. Like most others, the last update we received was in Nov 2019 that they have started processing the application.

To cover for any emergency travel, she applied for PR card renewal in Sep 2020. We received an acknowledgement of application receipt today. We hope she gets at least the renewed PR card before April (when her current card expires). Cheers and good luck to everyone!

hey guys! what is the average wait for citizenship to receive after you apply? I was sure that its less than 1 year but it looks like I was too optimistic.... does it become longer during the COVID??

Mid - late 2019 applicants are just now getting test invites. So, yeah, you can calculate the timeline from that (check the trackers in my signature). There are delays and the backlog is not going anywhere unless IRCC starts issuing bulk test invites AND conducts a large volume of oath ceremonies.
