Hi,

i was planning to apply for citizenship but have few questions, would be great if someone can answer or direct me to some other thread if there is any.
my passport expires in 6 months, wondering if its good idea to renew it before applying canadian citizenship or are there any red flag's by doing it so?
also i have a spouse sponsorship PR application in progress, does it matter if i apply for my citizenship now, or should be ok for me to move forward with this application.

Thanks,

Yes it is a confusing question, I was in the same situation so what I did is , I checked Yes as I lived outside before pr and inside the eligibility period, didn’t fill the form but wrote a short explanation (additional sheet) that I lived outside Canada before landing as an immigrant but I never served the crown , I have no period to claim while living outside Canada and this rare situation is not applicable to me , hence I am not enclosing for cit 0177
Hope it makes the doubts clear
Good luck
I do have the same problem..thank you for this answer..it helps a lot.my other question is did you write your address outside canada too?because under that question about living outside canada you have to list all the address during eligibility period..my eligibility period is 2013-2018 and i landed as pr 2014..so. 2013 i was still in my home country..does it mean i have to write my home country address?

My friend was asked to provide a translation to the stamps in his passports. So I think there is no relation between renewing your passport and submitting your citizenship application.

If you spouse sponsorship PR application in progress and you have PR, then you have to stay in Canada. If you spouse sponsorship PR application in progress and you are a citizen, then you have to stay abroad but you have to show that you will settle in Canada when your spouse application is accepted. Sometimes it is not easy to show this. But I feel if you apply for the citizenship, it won't hurt your spouse sponsorship application.

You need to list all 5 years of eligibility period on your answers. And that includes the months before you came here.

Hi All,

Any doubt/question please see:

For some reason I am panicking about the application being returned. If they do return it, will they send an email first or do they just return it. I will be traveling until the end of October. I think nothing will happen until mid November as my application reached on Sept 18. But a bit worried about it lying in my mail box.

Hi

I am planning to send my application shortly and wanted to know what Language ability proof can I send along with my application. I don't feel like wasting time and money on giving a language test. Will copies of my degrees , marksheets , transcripts for bachelors and masters be enough for this ?

Do u have Canadian degreee ?
