I did just that on Monday, since I have passed the 6 month mark. I specifically asked for Eligibility and the Background check (security part). I think it all depends on the officer who is replying, though from what I have learned from this forum - CSE replies are almost always more generalized than calling an officer over the phone...
So, I raised a CSE on Monday to ask for the status of my file, and the reply was very brief (even though I asked specifically for Eligibility).

While MyCIC shows for Medicals: "You passed the medical exam", I'm unsure what "background verifications are currently valid" means (especially since some 10 days ago I submitted an ADR for POF - which seeming had delayed my application).
Has anyone encountered such an answer? Does anyone knows what it means?

Hi my AOR is 20 sept nd my bg started on 9 jan nd status till yesterday was same as urs only security was left nd today i got ghost update in my account...yesterday i called cic nd asked the reason of such delay he told tat there r huge applications and security is done by canadian intellegnc services thats y its taking so long odrwise its a matter of 1 day if security initiated...
Atleast 6 months. However i cannot move to Canada before August and i guess we need to have atleast 6months validity on the passport when flying into Canada.
I would call IRCC and ask them, or you can send both passports with LOE...
If you do call them , can you pls let me know what they said?
I have my appointment for new passport on March 27 and it will take a month before I receive it. Would be good to know what to do if I get PPR while waiting for new passport.

There is no need to inform, just send your new passport with a photocopy of the old passport and an LoE for stamping.
I am in the same boat but waiting for PPR so will get it done after PPR mail.

Are you sure it is still 6 months?
I have seen people saying that on the more recent PPR mails, they have asked for the passport to be valid for atleast 12 months and now people are hurrying to get their passports renewed.
Can people who got PPR mails recently confirm if the mail says 12 months or 6 months' validity?
