My husband who is a PR and a currently in canada submitted our spousal visa application last sept 2017 but unfortunately, our application was returned last nov 7 due to missing or lacking of postal code in his home address in IMM5406 form (Additional family information). The error was so minimal that he can easily supply the lacking information and submit our other documents to IRCC for review again. Since our documents were returned, are we going to use our other old forms and only print the form which has an error? The document checklist we passed was dated septemebr2017 since it is yet the most recent and updated form during that time. However, when we visited the CIC website, 3 new forms have been updated which dated oct 2017. Should we print the new forms and retain the other returned forms when we submit it to IRCC? I have read from the previous forums that its better to print a new one since our application will be reviewed again by the IRCC. When submitting again our documents, are we going to highlight in the checklist the corrected information so they will know that it has been changed? Is there any assurance that when we re-submit to IRCC, our documents are already ok? Or is it possible that our documents will be returned again granting another officer has seen some errors (heaven forbids) that the previous officer did not see? Please advise if anyone here has an idea. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear your application got returned. I would definitely print out the updated forms and fill them out again. Don't give them any reason to return it again. Yes, it's always possible that there are other errors that were not picked up, thus I would go through the Complete Guide IMM 5289 with a fine tooth comb and make sure there is nothing they can pick you up on. Especially read: 'common mistakes to avoid' in the Complete Guide - it does outline the litttle things that can slip through like addresses not being complete. They are really picky and these applications require a high level of attention to detail!

Thank you for the information workerincanada. I have some other concern if it's alright to include in our newly updated printed forms the returned document checklist and put a cover letter above it stating that our documents were returned due to the missing info (postal code) and was already filled.-in? Our purpose is to let the officer know that we have corrected the error and our papers will most likely be processed and approved ?
