Just sharing the good news.. My husband received his passport through courier yesterday!! We are overjoyed yet at the same time, trying to sort out when would be the best time for me to help him pack and fly here. Looks like by the end of March, he will finally see Canada in person after countless Skype and facetime calls we've had for over 8 years. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My husband landed today!!!! It's gonna be a while until it doesn't just feel like another visit though :P

About postage, I bought a document sized Xpresspost envelope and then a bubble envelope to put the former in, with tracking added to it. Iirc it was cheaper, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thank you and congratulations! Can you shed some light on timeline from when Appex A was received in Ottawa?

MyCIC changed to closed and approved late yesterday evening for me. Tracking info for the return envelope hasn't activated yet.

Annex A was something we had to fill out and send to Ottawa with a copy of the passport and new photos. It had name, address, etc., as well as a barcode.

Hi guys, I haven't posted here before but this forum has really helped me out in submitting my application.
I'm in Canada under a Student Visa.

My spousal sponsorship PR application was received on September 7 and is processed in the Ottawa Visa Office.
My MyCIC states that the Background Check is in progress (nothing about that on ECAS though).

But I still don't have a DM. And it seems like everyone else processing in Ottawa got theirs.

Should I be worried?
Is there anything I should do?

---

I don't know if this is of relevance but a while back I submitted an address change in ECAS, yet it still shows my old address.
(Which is fine, my spouse's parents live there)

Still no DM. I'm getting really worried...

Based on when your background check started, I wouldn't worry. It seems like things happen in cycles. You'll probably be in the next cycle of DMs, which will probably start after you see the people who got DM and PPR in the last batch finishing up and receiving their COPRs. I suspect you'll see DM within the next week or two.

Hey, just quick question.
I applied to sponsor my husband on Jan 24th, 2017( from Paris). Today, March 1st, they emailed me asking to renew his passeport and to pay the RPRF. So does that mean that they will ask for his passport soon to stamp the visa???? Could it be that fast from Paris. ( btw he is algerian).
Thnx

It almost sounds like it, but honestly I don't think its possible to be completed in only one month. That's how long it normally takes to get sponsorship approval. Did you already receive that? After that, forwarding your file to your visa office in Paris takes almost two weeks in its self and then the background check takes a bit of time, never mind all the other work that goes into processing applications. But I wonder, is his passport expiring in the near future? Maybe they will not process the file if it is and are asking for a renewed one for this reason. Maybe it is a straightforward application that they anticipate will move quickly so want that and the fees paid now to avoid any delays?

His passport is expiring on Dec29, 2017.
They said I'm eligible to sposor him on Feb 17th, 2017. & i was also pregnant when I sent the application ( so I added a copy of my hcg level to prove the pregnancy) but now I lost it. So may that helps.

Anyways, do u know the average time they treat an application from Paris??

& thnx for getting back to me

I am sorry for your loss, inchallah you guys will have another chance to have a baby.
Before they changed to the new application the average was around 8 months, but now they state "within 12 months" for every country... and since the changes are so new, no one knows yet really how fast they are processing. It also depends on each individual situation, if there are red flags it can take longer. I highly doubt anyone who has applied since the new application came out on December 7th has gotten decision made yet, regardless of the country they are applying from. In any case I hope you are that lucky to have them close to approving, that would be awesome. Send what they are asking for as soon as possible and see! Good luck.

Actually I just remembered there is a guy recently on here who applied at the beginning of November 2016 and got decision made on February 13th through Paris office from Algeria also, so who knows!

Insane'allah they'll make it go fast for me too. Lol cz I'm in Algeria waiting with him & miss Toronto so bad.
Thanx for the help

The fact you are there in Algeria with him probably goes a long way in terms of showing that it is a genuine relationship
