Hello,

I have a question about moving back to Canada from the US. I am a Canadian Citizen, and will be moving back in a few weeks with my American Husband and my children (dual citizens). We sent in my husband's outland application and it was received mid September, but in the meantime, we are moving forward with the move.

Regarding crossing the border, my husband and I are driving our cars over border and intend to import them. At the same time, we are planning to use the UPACK company, which takes your belongings across the border in a moving truck and keeps it in bonded storage until you to clear it with the customs office. In our case, we will cross the border at Sarnia and the truck will be held in Bresleau, ONT until the shipment is cleared.

I'm stumped on what should be on the Goods list (BSF186 Form) and what should be on the Goods to Follow list (BSF186A Form). If we cross the border with our cars, before the truck is cleared although it would already be in Canada at the warehouse, would our cars be on BSF186 and would the moving truck be considered goods to follow BSF186A? I know we will drive our cars separately from the moving truck, but am very confused about how to separate the moving truck from the cars and on which forms, when dealing with crossing the border.

Below is my situation

Application filled and sent October 10 2016
Application returned back unprocessed because its missing a use of representative form and that is because I used my mailing address regading contact info for the sponsored person in form imm 0008 eventhough i am indicatin my email for communication.
I added the use of representative form and sent the pacclkage again and it was received by CPC and signed in 26 September 2016.

Tried to link my application to mycic, I have done it successfuly but it shows only OPEN nothing in progress. With a temporary app number starts with XF########
Now waiting. ....

Hello,

You can't legally move your husband's items up to Canada until he has PR. According to the guide at the UPACK website, they'll need a copy of his visa giving him permission to settle in Canada. This means a student permit, work permit, or CoPR/PR card.

Also, his car can't be exported from the US and imported into Canada until he has his PR.

Until your husband has his CoPR in hand, he can only enter Canada as a visitor. Although CBSA is supposed to recognize dual intent (temporarily visiting and applying for PR), and usually does for US citizens, he cannot state that he's coming up to stay - only to visit you while he's waiting for his PR to go through.

Hi Ibra15. I did the same i.e. put the sponsor address in as the mailing address on IMM0008 and the applicant's residential address and email. So, now I'm waiting for a returned package.

Do you think it's better to add me, the sponsor, on a use of representative form? Or to just switch the contact mailing address to the applicant's address in the US.

Thoughts anyone? and thanks

In few dates, like said before, you'll be able to access ECAS. If not, just be sure to enter the right information:

- IUC
- Sponsor's family name
- Sponsor's date of birth (Year-Month-Day: 19xx-MM-DD)
- Sponsor's place of birth (country)

The most tricky parts IMHO according to this forum is; 1. either people enter the sponsored person's credentials, and/or 2. do not enter sponsor's family name EXACTLY as in the application/legal papers.

It depends on where the principal applicant is residing and whether the sponsor is living in or outside canada.. different visa offices have different processing times. U will have to check the CIC website

Yes, I've tried both of our information to see if either side would work. Neither seems to be working at this point...I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer!
