Awesome cool.. Congrats.. Yesterday we got the 6th line added(PPR Letter they sent on April).

Has any other applicant that just received PPR noticed that there's an expiry of the visa on the 3rd page of the letter.. Mine says "Your visa(s) will expire on 2016/08/17" which is the date my medical will expire. Does this equals to a DM?

Have you received your COPR? On the COPR it says valid until.... That is the last day you are allowed to get landed. You have about 6 months to get landed since DM. Your PR card lasts 5 years and then you either have to renew it or apply for Citizenship.
My ecas was never updated with all these info, but I believe for you yes it is DM and you have to get landed by 17.08.2016. :)

Hi Hi
@stephcy and everyone who has landed, how is the job hunting?

any tips/experience we can learn from?

thanx

Hey kitty_T,

To be honest I didn't start looking yet, though I have to start doing it soon, as my bank account is empty. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, not sure if I want to continue in the field i'm. I believe in new beginnings. I'm also waiting from a letter from my bank to arrive so I can go get my OHIP and SIN number. Service Ontario didn't accept my bank statements printed by the bank as a proof or residence, they have to be mailed to you! I will let u know when I start looking. :)

Oh wow, do u need to wait for the month to finish or they will send letter asap? Also does it mean u need to wait another 3 months for your card? With regards to work iam also considering doing something else. But iwill see. Idid IT, am currently specialising on web development. I am thinking of doing physio therapy....but still deciding. Please do let me know. Thanx :)

Hey Kitty_T,

I just received the bank statement so tomorrow I will go apply for the OHIP & SIN. The OHIP you get it 3 months after you get landed. So I will be eligible in June. I think they mail your card (I would let u know tomorrow). But for the SIN number you can get it immediately and start working, but I just wanted to go to Service Ontario once! :) I'm not sure for which card your asking me for. The PR will be emailed to you 4-6 weeks after you get landed so I should be receiving mine in the next 2-3 weeks. :) When you will arrived at the borders they will stamp and make u signed your COPR and they will staple it to your passport until you receive your PR in the mail.
I'm an architect but not sure if I wanna continue in this field. 2 years ago when I was trying to find a way to come to Canada to be with my partner I started looking for jobs in this field, but nothing really showed up, plus I will probably have to do the credentials for my degree and experience!
I'm also a yoga teacher so hopefully I can find something in this area soon as a start :)

ok, good luck. imeant the card for OHIP. thats really nice that it is 3months after your landing. then you do not miss out on the days. incase one still need to get their residential docs in order. one would actually think architect jobs wouldn't be difficult to find. at least you also have something else.
you can totally open your own yoga studio at home if possible :) thanx for all the info...counting the days and hours....if not months

I'm going through Rome. There is a Rome forum for spousal applicants one here. You should read through that. I guess you'll be getting your visa soon because it seems the average is 6-8 months, not 17 months, based on what I saw on that forum and this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wG-ZWf2TOYbUPcsQ9g17nR1IB6Fs6huB5zepAqXCB38/edit#gid=0 You can add yourself to that spreadsheet. let me know when they ask for the passport. I'm sponsoring my husband and we're outland in Italy too. We are going to send in our application in a couple of weeks. Just waiting for the consul to be in town to certify our translations and photocopies.

Hey kitty_T,

So I applied for my OHIP today, and I will be eligible 3 months from the day I got landed. It was pretty fast. Just needed my passport, COPR stapled on my passport and a bank statement mailed at my home address.

Unfortunately I didn't get my SIN number, as it seems that I have to go to Service Canada Center for that and not service Ontario. Oh well I will get it one of those day. They told me I just need my passport and COPR, so I hope it will be fine :)
I'm pretty sure you will get good news soon, as especially as you have kids too :) Which is your visa office?

Good luck and keep being positive :)

Hi, thank you for your reply, I checked the spreadsheet but unfortunately it's old. So, my wife sponsored me and I hope something will happen soon ;D
I'm currently in Canada as a visitor with my wife and our baby. Do you know any other Italians who have received their PR?

No, sorry. I just know that it takes longer for inland applicants.

hello fellow september applicants any update, from Manila visa office?

Hi Karla and Winnipeg and CrzyCdn There seems to be many of us waiting on Manila VO...

If only we were able to have Mexico VO handle our paperwork - they don't seem to be busy. ;D

oh thanx for clearing that up....service Canada and service Ontario, hahahaha iwould think its one and the same. but iget it now
my visa office is pretoria.....south africa. cant seem to find any recent applicants..so the pretoria thread is quiet...QUIET at the moment. iam also thinking soon i will be receiving some good news....but as i wait, iwill still be working at my current workplace and learning what ican about Ontario/toronto. in terms of buying food, furniture, clothes etc(only place iknow and can go by myself is Spadina, bathurst and eaton centre ).....:) and hopefully checking some kid friendly apartments/ areas. where my hubby currently stays at the moment is not that ideal for a baby.

thanx again for sharing, and wishing me luck

You can apply for OHIP before the 3 months then? I thought that you had to go and apply after the 3 months. So if you applied before the 3 moths, are they just going to mail you the card after the 3 months or do you just have to pick it up? I'm very curious. I think 3 months is too long without health care. What happens if you get in an accident or something? Did you buy insurance before leaving for Canada?
