So my wife got her COPR in the mail yesterday! Everything looks good. Now all she has do is get the CPR signed by a Canadian Border Services Officer or Immigration Officer.

Need to call in 1-888-242-2100 (need to be within Canada to call) number to find the closest CIC Office near us.

I am going to update the September Spreadsheet as well.

We were asked to send additional documents : Declaration of Common Law and Proof of spouse's intention to re-establish in Canada.

We are with Ottawa VO. I heard some VOs ask for this while others don't.

Was anyone else asked to do so ? How long do you think this can set us back ? We sent them to them 2 weeks ago.

I guess the good news is that they are working on our application

Visa Exempt individuals usually just have to email a scanned copy of their Passport.

I was going to export / import until my car died.. lol.. Here are some links I had saved

Thank you! It is a lot and even though I have a good car I might just sell it and get a new one. Its such a hard choice because I have a great car and its almost paid off.

If you like your car, just keep it. It would cost more up north anyway esp after taxes, and if your car is almost paid off!! It's not that hard to export/import, really. You can call your border crossing and they will e-mail you the list of what you need to know. The Peace Arch told me I could use any broker, but to shop around because they range in price from $50-$500. And you just have to do it 72 hrs before you wanna import it. You could even do it a month in advance.

I am in Canada now, and I quit my job so I could spend the summer with my husband. I want to apply for jobs at the hospital ASAP because I want to start working and living a normal life.

No, everyone who exports a vehicle, paid or not, needs a broker to give you your ITN#. The border needs your ITN# and your title 72 hrs before you plan to export. Yes, call the US Vehicle Export section of your Border for further details. Most people on the forums seem to use AESDirect to obtain the ITN# to export their vehicles, probably because it is free, but you can choose to pay and use any broker, and they will take care of everything for you. Whereas AESdirect is a little more hands on.

If your car isn't paid off, make sure you contact your bank/credit union or whoever your lien is through, to make sure it is eligible to export in the first place. I believe they have to give you permission to export it. I'm sure that this is something the US Vehicle Export section of US Customs will be able to tell you more about when you call.
