I just called CIC again the agent again confirmed my file was received on Sep 8 and an acknowledgement was sent was by post which I never received. He however could not give me my case no saying that a case no has not been created yet and said that he will send me study Canada guide through my email. Is that normal?

contact your local member of PARLIAMENT, will get some help.
At least for my case, the staff in his office call me and call the CIC for more information one day after I sent the email to him.

So my question is with AOR do you receive a case no or that is given on a later date?

After receiving email AOR on Monday night, this morning I am able to login eCAS. There is nothing status shown but only the information of how to change the home address. Maybe CIC is reviewing my application now.

Do you see a “Received” status at least?

Old CIT0002 form used to ask about employment proof and now new form does not ask for it so it means it is not required to send work records.
So I'm trying to make sense of this.. the form I submitted in Sept 2014 was labeled as: "CIT 0002 (05-2014) E". TODAY (1/14/2015) I went to the cic website and downloaded the form again and it has the exact same label. Now to the confusing part... the one I submitted says this on Question 6F: "If you answered yes, you must provide photocopies of your work and/or education records." whereas the one I got from their site TODAY says: "If you answered yes to attending an educational institution, you must provide photocopies of your education records."

I would figure that any changes to the forms should be accompanied by a label/date change of the form ? In any case I was wondering if anybody knows when that got changed. I know for a fact my forms were "recent" back when I sent them so by "Old CIT0002 form" it can't be more than a few months old...

i suppose it was changed either in september or october but i am not too sure.
If you have used old form, did you send your work records?
what is the current status of your application?

Good for you.

Although, I have to say that I printed and read the application instruction guide at least 50 times (not exaggerating :) ...) I did not see anywhere in the document where it is written NOT to include additional documents. Instead, at the beginning of the "Gather Documents" section it said - "Note: Additional documents may be required during the processing of your application." Also, the video says "not to substitute any document mentioned in the checklist" i don't recall it saying DO NOT under any circumstances add additional documents.

Anyway,to each their own, I guess. Best of luck with your RQ. Keep us posted on your application progress.
Hi Desigirltoronto84,

I am not sure which video you have seen OR are referring to. I am refeerring to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j92dQnfXyAU. At 7 minutes and 18 seconds (7:18), it clearly says "Do not send any documents that we have not requested". I can't find where it said the same thing in the Application form OR Instruction Guide, but I was filling the form with another colleague and he pointed that out to me, when I removed the extra documents that I was planning to send. He also told me about one of his freinds who had sent in extra documents and his processing had been astronomically delayed.

Now to your specific questions:
1) coloured photo copy of the full passport It says biographical pages and not all pages clearly. It is also explained what is meant by biographical pages
2) an excel sheet mapping the exit / entry stamps in the passport with the corresponding travel dates and page number of the passport I have never seen exit stamp from Canada on the passport. As far as Entry stamps are concerned, the last 3-4 times that I came into Canada, I went through the automated system and that doesn't generate a stamp on the passport. So, I can't map my exact travel dates to exit/entry stamps.
3) NOAs and T4s for the past 4 years I don't know if NOA is considered proof of employmenet which is what was asked. I did provide T4s as it is considered proof of employment, but only for 3 years, as I was in the US in the 4th year prior to my application which doesn't issue T4s
4) itineraries and Boarding Pass of my air travels within four years Again, I did not see this information as requested. What was requested was that I provide consent for them to retrieve records from CBSA which I did provide.
5) employment letter confirming that you need stay in the city to do your job Again, for one this was not requested and two it is not true. I am required to travel as part of my job and do not need to stay in the city

Please note and remember that if RQ is bound to happen then no matter what additional documents you send with the initial application, it will still happen. There are various factors that can trigger RQ and lots of information is available if you google it. CIC officers are very muc experienced and they check 100s of applications a day and they assess the application to make sure that it is complete and if they find any discrepancies then RQ is likely to occur.

As per forum member's experience there is no proof that additional documents helped even though it did not harm. If you watch the video carefully, it says not to send additional documents not being asked:

Here this is what he said:

“However, do not provide documents that we have not requested.”

Here is the video link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j92dQnfXyAU
Please watch from 7:15

Old CIT0002 form used to ask about employment proof and now new form does not ask for it so it means it is not required to send work records.
Ohhh, I am seeing your response now, after I made all the research on where i had seen the same thing. :-( But, anyways, thanks for corroborating my point. I know of a couple of my friends who sent exactly what I sent and have similar entry exits from Canada and never got an RQ. So, it is hard to tell what was the trigger for me. The form could not have been incomplete, as it was not returned and also got a File number.

Please advise if we have to sign the application with the same date as the Application date ? same for the receipts ?
signature on all documents with black pen ?

Anybody knows what will happen if we submit a 2nd application and the they find the first application before receiving the 2nd ? are they going to disregard the 2nd application when they receive it ?

I sent work records (NOAs, Employment letter, etc), but I haven't even received AOR yet since my application was received in Sept 30th.

I suggest you to prepare the application with a date "in the near future" when you intend to send your application. You can sign it on that date and send the application a few days later without a problem, but I would advise against sending it before the date in the application. The application form is clear about using black pen, and while other documents don't say anything about it, I'd just use the same pen for everything.

I've heard of people submitting a 2nd application when their 1st one was thought to be returned/lost -- in which case they include a cover letter stating when they sent the 1st application and why they're sending a 2nd application. I don't think there's a clear understanding on which application they use in these cases -- I would think it may vary based on what happened to the 1st application and the reason for the 2nd application.
