Hello, we applied for Conjucal Common Law Spouse.
Medical exams: June 6, 2013
AOR: September 20, 2013
SA: Oct. 2, 2013
Passport request: May 15, 2014
Passport received: June 4, 2014
In process: TBD
Decision made: TBD
Visa Received: TBD
Landed: TBD
We have a few questions:
1. We understand medical expire 1 year after they were done. Assuming CIC recognized this when they sent request for passport as they didn't ask for re-meds at the time of passport request, does anyone know how long the process delays when CIC does an extension on the medicals? If so, how long do they usually extend them for?
2. Others with September application, and passport request in mid-May have received their COPR and passport back already and ECAS was updated to show DECISION MADE. As our ECAS (on the Applicants side) hasn't been updated yet, do you believe it could be delayed updating due to the fact that CIC may be in the process of extending the medicals?
3. In some cases, it appears as if ECAS updates to IN PROCESS or DECISION MADE, and passport with COPR Docs sent back to applicant a few days after the update on ECAS is made. Others have updates showing in ECAS to IN PROCESS, days after passport has been sent in to CIC and then DECISION MADE a few days before passport and PR docs are sent to applicant.
We're waiting patiently but are a bit concerned as meds have expired, but no request from CIC has come yet to get re-meds done. We can only assume the delay with ECAS being updated to IN PROCESS has something to do with meds being extended. Does anyone know of a situation where passport is requested, but COPR docs are not issued due to medical expiring? Our lawyer said passport request is the final step, but we have read online, some people have been told passports are requested at the beginning of the process. We're wondering if there are two passport request processes, one for VISA applications and one for PR Soponsorship applications.
We will continue to wait patiently for ECAS to be updated or something to be received in the mail shortly. Anyone with previous experience with this situation would be greatly appreciated. Even if ECAS updated to IN PROCESS, we would feel more comfortable that we're not waiting in limbo (we have confirmation CIC received passport and Appendix A). Improvements to the notification features on ECAS would certainly cut down on emails and phone calls into CIC
