Hello All,
I read somewhere somewhere that CIO has to process all application in 90 days. Is it the correct information? It has been more than 60 days already since my application has reached CIO so just getting little bit curious. Thanks.

I don't know whether CIO-Sydney is on the strike, but I strongly believe that they are working as I heard that; CIO has been receiving immigration applications even after the strike has started.

I think maybe they have some irregular case. In the past, it was almost 6 months ago, our friend ds3010 was on the same situation. CIO requested an additional information after ds3010 sent enquiry, and then they issued PER.
If you need to know details, please see the previous posts in this thread ;

I would like recommend you to ask CIC call centre or CIO-Sydney (CIO-Sydney-Search-Enquiry @ cic.gc.ca).

That's exactly what happened I confirm it

Thanks mysteaka & ds3010 for your reply. I confirmed with CIC via email. As per their reply, they received my application & its awaiting review by an officer. I think, i don't have any other option left other than to wait it out.
Thanks once again.

Hello guys,

My work permit is expiring on Nov 13, 2013 and now I have to apply for my work permit under bridging open work permit category as I have already filed PR under FSW category. Right now I am on valid closed work permit and also have approved LMO.
I am having trouble in the question below while filling up my application form:

Check the appropriate box or boxes to indicate if you are applying for:

An extension of a work permit with the same employer
A work permit with a new employer
Restoration of your status as a worker
An initial or an extension of a temporary resident permit

Bridging open work permit link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob485.asp

Could you please let me know what option should I select?
Thank You.

Regards,
Neha

just use An initial or an extension of a temporary resident permit

they don't really care...they will change it on their own if they feel its not true...done that many times..and it is kind of true because your bowp is kind of a new work permit and at the same time it also satisfies the second fact that you are trying to extend your temporary resident permit.

Congrats gpranav , all the best to you .. :)

Hi Neha, as dbss said, you can choose the fourth option!!

and in the explanation letter include:

- You're applying for OWP per Op. Bulletin 485
- A copy of your AOR letter
- A copy of your current work permit (they already have it but makes a nice package)

That's what I found BOWP holders' messages (at CEC forum);

I have tried to look through other people's posts but I can't seem to get a clear consensus for this:

Do you need to fill out the employment fields in the IMM5710E form when you're applying for an open work permit, even if you are currently employed? Secondly, are you essentially applying for the same employer or new employer in Question 3 of the form? The Instruction Guide by CIC is useless for this..

You do not need to include any employer details, location, type of job, etc. It's in the name: Open Work Permit. Second question is answered by the same logic. Employer does not play a role, those options are there for restricted work permits. Just choose the fourth option (initial or extension), that's what I did.

If you're still worried, in the explanation letter include:

- You're applying for OWP per Op. Bulletin 485
- A copy of your AOR letter
- A copy of your current work permit (they already have it but makes a nice package)
Thisisauser is right.. you don't have to fill that out coz you are applying for a Bridging Open Work Permit.

I filled out my current employer information anyway (sent it by paper application) and included a letter stating what I'm applying for.
I find it easier to send in by paper (at least I can pen in remarks on the side if I need to). It may take a bit longer, but since I was going to be on implied status and work in the same conditions, what does it matter anyway?

If you get BOWP, please share your experience so I can apply BOWP much easier. it must be helpful :)

Good luck
