Hi All,

I am an Indian citizen and i am working in Toronto since March 2010. I am currently on work Permit and i am eligible for PR under CEC.

I am preparing to file PR under CEC. I have cleared IELTS with a score of 7 and have gathered required documentation like Work Experience, Police Clearance Certificate, Birth Certificate from Indian consulate here.

I got married few months back and my wife joined me here a month back. Currently she is on Dependent Visa.

Can i apply PR for both of us at the same time ? Or is there any duration limit (like staying for more than a year in Canada or so) which my wife needs to satify ?

In this case do i need to hire a lawyer ?

Could you please help me in this regards.

Please let me know if anyone who attached bank draft, got the payment done so far?
Bcos as far as I observe most of the september applicants who got payment charged have used the credit card option.

I recently joined this forum.

I submitted my CEC application in Sep, it was received Sept 27. My credit card is charged yet, as of now. This waiting game is killing me slowly.

Hi Braveman,

I made the payment of my application through Bank Draft and it took some time for my bank to provide the status.
In my AOR it shows the draft was Cashed on Oct 3, 2012 however, my bank says it is out of their system on Oct 12, 2012.

Don't worry! you will get your AOR soon!

Hey you can apply for yourself and your wife together. My case is similar, I am on a work permit as well. My wife is here with me and I applied under the Skilled worker category (Arranged Employment) and was able to file together. Just make sure you fill out the correct forms. Make sure you also send in your marriage certificate along with your file.

Hi All,

just an update on my application.

CIO office returned my application yesterday by post stating that it is incomplete as they have not accepted the date of birth certificate provided by High Commision of India, Ottawa. I didn't have date of birth certificate from Municipal office, so, I have got it from Indian High commission as suggested by other forums.

@ Braveman, I read you were in the same situation from other links in this forum, can you tell me how did you manage the situation. I am going for an affidavit locally here to get one now.

I hope others who are in same situation may use this information.

Due to this delay, my status will be changing to Implied status on 26th Oct as my work permit is expiring. I hope I can still apply with an affidavit with Implied status. pls suggest.

So, I conclude that all applications are being processed quickly (at least initial screening) and I advise everyone to wait for their turn for the progress. Good luck to all....

3 things you can send if you dont have the Birth certficate ::

1. DOB provided by High commission of India.
2. Locally made affidavit
3. Get an affidavit from indian notory based on your passport stating your DOB.

if none of them works: Send somebody where you were born and you can get a duplicate copy from the Registrar of Births. You have to tell the place and date and time of birth.

Just trying to understand - Was Certificate of Date of Birth (issued by High Commission of India) the only doc you submitted evidencing your Date of Birth ? Did you not submit an Affidavit and Educational Certificate to further support your claim ?
