Thank you all for your advice on sending the copies of the passport. You were right, sending by email is the easiest way. I bought a used scanner for $10, scanned all the pages and sent it to the VO yesterday. I made the scans smaller (somewhat of the size of the original passport) and all together was 4 MB in the end (they required max 9 MB). Got the automatic confirmation from VO just after sending and voilà.

And just now I checked the ecas - my status changed to "In Process" with the info: We started processing your app on Jan 3, 2013." So I guess this passport request was not really a sign that they're finishing with my app as they asked for it the same day they started processing my app. Oh well, as long as everything goes well I don't mind waiting. :-\

Hey there all September applicants. I have been reading this forum for quite sometimes now,and it has helped us so much..so I decided to join. My visa office is London..but Swedish citizen...are there any other swedes in this forum? Our application was recieved on the 7th of September,sponsorship approved on the 19 of October and we got our csq on the 27th of November...now we are just waiting. I hope will all get our visa soon so we can be reunited with our loves and can start our life for real in Canada. Ps.my application on ecas says application recieved and then that medical was recieved..I contacted the visa office in LOndon they told me that my medical had been recieved and passed,that my file is awaiting a full review..how long do you think it might take?? Good luck everyone!!

Congratulations! That's much faster than the 8 months listed as the Poland VO processing time!

Thank you! Actually, in my VO AOR letter they said it'll take them up to 6 months - so I guess the chart with the processing time on the CIC webpage isn't always accurate. They also wrote to contact them if I don't hear anything till the beginning of Feb - so I'm assuming that was the standard time for the possible request for extra documents/passport etc.

I worked with Warsaw VO last year. They always asked their applicants to sent copy of their Passport via email. They asked me too. It was a regular request & don't know why they didn't ask u
I believe u email it and ask them it is necessary to sent out through post?

And yes, they did offer me the option of sending the copy of my passport via email and that's how I did it in the end.

Yesterday I got an email from Warsaw VO:
"We would like to inform, that immigration documents for you are ready to be picked-up. We can send them to you, but first please arrange for the pre-paid courier services. Your CONFIRMATION OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE is valid until August 24, 2013."

Oh happy ending! I've already arranged the pre-paid courier and was told I'll most probably get it next Wednesday (VO won't be able to send it this week). I'm so relieved! I was so worried for our common-law app but it took them 5 months only! I guess most of my gratitude should go to Warsaw VO for such a speedy process.
