Hi All, I am in the process of filling family sponsorship and I need little clarification please.

My husband had a brief previous relationship and he filed family sponsorship outland for his Ex after they got married. However, they got separated shortly, and four month after their separation, they got divorced and my husband withdrew the sponsorship shortly after that.

My question/concern is, since there's gap of four-month between their separation and divorce, will that hurt my case now? My opinion is he should have withdrawn sponsorship right after their separation but he waited till the divorce. He's under impression that he'd need legal reason, in this case a notarized divorce certificate to withdraw the application and they needed to fly back to his Ex home country for the divorce, thus delayed withdrawing process.

Please kindly let me know your thought on this one,
Thank you!

My thought is that it's going to be very important to show you relationship is genuine. There are many divorced people who get married again and sponsor their 2nd spouse through immigration. Immigration will look closely at the fact that he previously started an application for a different spouse, but they may find it's understandable that he is choosing each time to marry someone from his home country, who shares his culture (if that's the case).

Either way, Immigration must find the current marriage is genuine. You must answer all questions carefully, truthfully, and take time to write detailed essays explaining exactly how and when your relationship started, why you both decided to marry, explain the situation if his first marriage was still not resolved when you and he started your relationship.

The only way to do it is to tell the truth, tell it fully, and explain it fully in the way you want them to understand it.
