OK, first I want to say how amazed I am with everyone's support for each other. You should all be given a pat on the back. I would also like to say that the Seoul CIC thankfully has also been very prompt with replies, and helpful with any questions we've had.

My thoughts after reading the forum, about this topic: it seems that when medical results have been received, shortly after, a request for the passport is received.

Our case: we recently contacted CIC because we had been asked for further medical documentation, which was actually nothing for us to be worried about at all. Anyway, that was in 7/2011. I contacted the Seoul embassy and asked if that follow-up medical had been received, so that if it hadn't, we would quickly do another. It turned out that they were, in fact, unsure as to where it might be. Anyway, they said they would contact my partner if another one had to be done. They didn't, but now the status reads: Medical results have been received. We have not received any request for an interview or anything correspondence aside from the usual documentation. Our E-cas has never read: in process, nor does it read: decision made.

Our question: Do you think this was just their confirmation that they found the medical information, or that we will probably be receiving the passport request soon?

Thank you so much to anyone who helps us with our question, and thank you again to all of the people supporting each other. It really is wonderful to see people helping strangers, and getting nothing but satisfaction in return.

I think that they will contact you soon. I don't know how Seoul Canadian embassy does it. I've read from other forums that when they ask for the passport, the passport is returned shortly after with a visa. Ecas is not really updated but when you see that there's an update in your status, that means that they have been working on your application.

I hope you will hear from them soon.

Hi!

New to the forum but in a similar boat as the O.P...sorry to hijack the thread!

Have resided here in Seoul for a very long time, our p.r file started either in July or August(ecas reads accepted in MID July 2011-but letter from Seoul is dated MID August 2011) The embassy hasn't returned emails to clarify...

Have checked ecas daily to find the same thing as the O.P, under spousal application: "APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED ON..."and "MEDICALS WERE RECEIVED"

If I go in person to the embassy will they tell us or at least give us an idea as to when to expect ppr and where they are exactly in terms of processing? Or, will they tell us kindly "where to go"... so to speak?

I also wanted to ask the O.P how and if he received the approval letter for sponsorship...to this date and after two phone enquiries to the call center, most recently last week, requesting at least an email to confirm, I still have nothing to show on paper as proof other than a verbal confirmation that I was approved...

Can anyone make a few suggestions here?

I think I can help with the little information that I know.
First, I believe that if you were not approved, the PR process would've stopped--so I don't think you need to worry about that. I also know that some people never receive any paperwork to confirm that their sponsorship has been accepted. I actually received an email and a letter to tell me that my sponsorship had been approved. We also received our AOR in a very timely manner.

Danno, I'd recommend being a little more patient, if your file just started in July/August, it could take anywhere from between 7-12 months.

Our timeline is as follows:

CIC Missisauga received paperwork: 5/10/11
Sponsorship approved: 6/9/11
Seoul received file: 6/22/11
AOR sent 7/5/11

The Medical Results Received message just showed up on Sunday for us.

I think if you are as far as we are at such an early stage, you should be thankful. If the Medical results have been received message does, in fact, indicate that our PPR is coming, we'll be very grateful that it is happening so quickly.

Good luck!

Our timeline is something like this

June 3- cic-m docs received (all docs including police checks (translated and notarised), medicals and full payment of fees)
July 14- sponsorship processed...and approved(but no notice given)
July 21- Spouse File is received. (seoul????)
Aug 18- A.O.R

eCAS hasn't changed....

I honestly thought that being a Canadian, having a couple of kids with dual citizenship, and being married for many years, and having submitted all dues paid in full would somehow expedite the process by at least a couple of months given what's happening in other places. I would just like for them to answer requests(emails go unanswered), so at least we could go back, visit, wait it out for a couple months if need be, rather than go ,only to be issued a ppr! I also wanted to buy a house but can't, because the bulk of our funds here cannot be released from Korea (foreign exchange laws)until a visa is issued! Red tape! If one domino falls we'd be able to REALLY get the ball rollin' here...that's why I pondered going there in person and having access to an official...

In the meantime, I agree with the o.p as to the support base within these forums, there is a lot of info out there and good to know, I'm not the only one who feels left in the lurch by this process!

ACH, by any chance did they give you any hint or idea as to when you may expect a ppr or how far they are in the process? Do you think they are at the security check as of now?

BTW Thanks for the advice AND REMINDING ME TO BE MORE PATIENT!

If after 28 days, they don't return your email, then try try again I guess. When we went to the embassy, it's basically just a receptionist behind a glass window. I don't know if you would even have access to an official. I understand your frustration, we began preparing for this process almost 2 years ago.

We've been given no information other than the fact that the processing avg time is now 8-12 months for a complete application, and that apparently begins after the sponsorship has been approved. We've mentally prepared for the spring, I'd recommend you do the same. All the best!

I think you'll hear a reply soon. However I don't trust E-cas in the least, it seems that whenever there IS in fact an E-cas update that the application is almost finished.

Oh, I almost forgot...don't forget there was a postal strike this past summer that slowed everything down. I suspect that might factor into many people's application process.

Our experience with Seoul is that they do not respond to requests to updates. We received sponsor approval, had an AOR and medical results received update in short order after applying. That was over a year ago and no word or responses to our requests for an update. The only communication is a recent letter requesting additional documents, which we had already supplied with the original application (but at least its some communication versus hearing nothing; our CAIPS notes were not informative). Before that, after we went past the normal processing time we sent an email each month for about three months asking for a status update but received no response. (Caution: Do not take our experience as an indicator of yours. Our file does have a "hiccup" that we knew would make it take longer. Someone did post a while back that there PR through Seoul took about 5-6 months)

check the registered email address you sent in to your visa office. you should receive a passport request via email and mail very soon after you see medical has been received. that was what happened to me. after i saw medical has been received about 2 weeks later i got passport request via email.

Harju, sorry that your experience is taking so long. Have you tried sending in extra documents that you have found along the way, to help with your case? I would think it might highlight and draw attention once again, to
Your case.

Good luck!

Application received medical results received....but......

Hi again everyone,
I just want to confirm with everyone re: my original question, does the message on E-Cas that Medical Results Have been resceived always mean that the PPR will soon follow? It just seems coincidental that we inquired about our 'further medical request' the week prior to this message being displayed. Could it be possible that everything was already done and they were just waiting for that information (which had been missing) to complete the process? The average processing period in Seoul is 7 months, that message would have brought it to approx. 4 months. I hope that is the case, if it were, then that is amazing!

Medical Results were received doesn't mean that the PPR will soon follow in my experience. On E-CAS, once we received the File Number, my wife's "Medical Results were received" was indicated from the beginning. I sent 4 email inquires and one fax but didn't get any response from the embassy in regards to the Chinese Police Certificate.

It took about 9 months from submitting the app to her landing in Canada. If we didn't forget the Chinese Police Certificate, I would assume that it would be have 7 months.

My wife's Time line below from Seoul.

Oct 14/10 - Mailed Application
Nov 19/10 - Sponsor approved
Nov 29/10 - Seoul received package
Dec 31/10 - File Number Received from Embassy
Feb 18/11 - Started review
Feb 25/11 - Request for Chinese Police Certificate
May 12/11 - Mailed Chinese Police Certificate (BTW, it's easier to go get it yourself. 1.5 months of going back and forth with my friend in China and nothing done. CIC website makes it sound easy)
June 24/11 - Request for Passport and Mailed back to embassy
July 4/11 - Received Passport with Visa
July 12/11 - Landed
