sent to vancouver local office on april

My wife applied to sponsor me in november 2009, CIC sent us a letter in April 2010 saying they sent our application to local Vancouver office,

and that they would be in touch with us, if they needed more information from us. we went there couple times and they said they are still doing a

security check on me, and my wife called this week and they said that a local agent from Vancouver Office would most likely take a look at our

application in October 2010(she said processing time would be six months from time our papers arrived at local office) and may request an interview

but could give no further information, as to why it is taking so long to process our application. What could be the issue? they have not even sent us a

letter approving my wife to sponsor me yet. What are they verifying? do they not believe us?
