I did just send CIC this as the guy couldn't help on the phone:

Hello,

I have a question regarding proof of funds.

I have declared in my EE profile I have $5000 in landing funds.
I am living in New Zealand but have Canadian work experience.

I am currently eligible for CEC.
A I do not have a job offer supported by LMIA in Canada, do I need the minimum funds ~$12,000 or does this only apply for FSW?

With $5000 states, current country of residence NZ and no job offer my EE is still eligible.

If I get an ITA, do I have to prove I have the $5000 stated or the cut off fee of ~$12,000?

If CEC applicants require the cut off fee of $12,000 is there a problem in the system that does not recognize this for those without a job offer/LMIA?

Thank you for your help.
Guess we have to wait for an answer about proof of funds.

from my experience their response is something like:

regardless of what immigration stream you are applying under (CEC, FSW etc) whatever you put in your EE profile and got picked out of the pool with, including any points awarded, has to be backed up with proof when you submit your application.

So if you got points for proof of funds, then even though you dont need it for your eligible program, you may still have to prove it to back up your initial EE application.

I wonder how many people get caught out with this and have their application rejected? It seems its safer to only put down what you can prove with documentation, even if that means losing points later - i.e. not listing all your foreign work experience

If I dont list that foreign work experience then what do I put under personal history after getting ITA? say that you worked or pretend you were unemployed?

no no never lie on your application.

I believe there is a difference between the 'personal history' after ITA and the 'work experience' you submitted in your original EE profile.

You have to list everything after your ITA, but you arent required to prove it. Whereas you have to prove the stuff you put in your EE profile because you were awarded points for that. Now the two might be identical if you have all the documentation/proof available. But for me personally, I had to decline an ITA and go back and resubmit my EE profile after stripping out all the foreign work history which I couldn't prove in the 60 days (if at all)

Once I got my ITA again (based on lower points as I lost the foreign work experience) I could list it all again to show my personal history.

Ha I wish I knew that. They did not provide much explanation about pre vs post ITA applications. Now I have to decline my ITA because I cant prove foreign work experience. should have never included it to start with :)
