Seniors pls help... How many work permit renewals can you get?

Hello

I was wondering how many times would immigration renew a work permit...

I have worked with 1 employer for 2 yrs and had 3 work permits with them after that I got another job and a 1 work permit for 2 yrs and that will be expiring in Jan 2011... do you think I will be able to renew it if I got a positive LMO?... I read somewhere that foreign workers are only allowed to stay for a certain number of yrs on work permit... is this true?

Need to know as my application for PR is currently in Buffalo and I don't know if I should renew work permit or change to visitor status...

As far as I know there is no maximum time you can stay on a work permit if you still qualify for an LMO and a work permit. There used to be a rule with the low-skilled workers that they could only stay on a work permit for 2 years and then had to leave Canada for at least 4 months before being able to get a new one but they seem to have lifted that except for seasonal agricultural workers.
