So "bickyii" as the took your given name as last name then you mean on PR card they will write blank for first name and XYZ singh as your last name..? For examplel: , XYZ Singh.

And all other your ID will have same name as , XYZ Singh

am i right?
I haven't received PR card yet, but that's what they are going to do actually. My IDs (WP as well) have "Singh, XYZ", but my PR card will have "XYZ Singh, "..
On my US visa they even put my full name in last & they put FNU (First Name unknown) in first name.
I have my name is messed up at so many places but no one ever said anything about it..
So it doesn't matter, according to Immigration Singh is a community name & we cant use it as last name.

I think you wrote opposite.....it should be " , XYZ singh" not as "XYZ, singh, ". As in my case. If Family name: Jasmeet singh and nothing in given name. Then it should be i think " , Jasmeet Singh".....

Right or wrong.

As this is the information sent from the Immigration agent on my email as i called them today:

Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Policy on Single Names in Passport
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) considers the surname (family name) as the primary identifier for an individual. In some cases, a single name will appear in the given name field of the applicant’s passport. In such cases, CIC will record that single name in the surname field.
In cases where a single name consists of more than one part (e.g., Jean-Paul), the entire name will be recorded in the surname field.
All future immigration documents, correspondence and applications should be completed by entering your complete name in the surname field and leaving the given name field blank.

Here is the link of CIC website which explains the issue : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=014&t=4

I am also copying the specific question below:

What do you mean by surname?

Your surname is your family name. It is sometimes called your “last name.” If your name is spelled differently on your official documents, please write your name as shown in your passport. When filling out applications, type your surname as it appears on your passport, travel or identity document or any letters you got from the visa office or case processing centre where you sent your application (even if the name is misspelled). Do not use initials.

If you do not have a surname on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the given name field.
