Seniors, I am going to attend medicals next week. My spouse was detected with a scar on the chest x-ray during the processing of dependant visa. She was issued the visa but was advised to visit the Public Health care office when she landed in Canada. We did visit them and they asked us to take a chest x-ray again as part of immigration medical surveillance. We submitted the x-ray and within a week, received a letter that the public health care has verified the x-ray report from the lab and my spouse has been discharged from immigration medical surveillance for inactive tuberculosis and the information has been reported to CIC.

Do I have to take this letter along with me to the panel doctor as part of CEC medicals?

Yes, show this letter to the Panel doctor and ask him/her to notify CIC. Hiding this information will lead to delay/rejection of your application on medical grounds. Dont take a chance.

Let Dr. know about the condition, because that scar will not go off easily and there is a fair chance that whoever has making notes of X-ray will notice the scar and you have to go through this “public health screening” process again.

So you’re best bet would be, include your wife’s
1. Medical surveillance undertaking (which has UCI) from immigration (issued during dependent visa)
2. Letters form public health about X-ray appointments etc.
3. Skin test report
4. Report form public health

Along with Dr. report about your medicals ask the Dr. to send above docs to CIC.
You can also write a cover later about this whole process your wife through with the public health and inactive form of TB.

But when we took the Xray as part of medical surveillance, the report said that the lungs are clear...This might also mean that the previous examination might be incorrect, right?

It was probably monitored to ensure that it was inactive... Nothing more nothing less. The fact that you have been given the clear is fine. They aren't concerned about inactive TB.

Just take the docs with you and it will be fine!

Good luck.

I still personally believe that informing this whole thing would be a good for your application. Since even your wife’s family Dr. must be having this TB medical surveillance report and other details, so does CIC.

If there is no scar on x-ray, that is excellent. I think it depends on Dr who examines the x-ray. I don’t know which country is you from, but for immigrants from India are checked very thoroughly for TB as TB is more prevalent in India. Even if there is a minute speck on chest x-ray they will be given this medical surveillance undertaking.

Should I call the doctor's office and explain them the situation to make sure what all documents I need to take concerning the previous medical history??

The fact is that my spouse never had any TB in her life but she was diagnosed with this scar on her lungs and was made to do sputum tests and chest x-ray in my home country before she travelled to Canada. So what I have with me is the sputum test results from my home country and also the clearance letter given by Canada public health care office after she landed.

Request seniors to advise as soon as possible. Thanks a lot in advance.

Is there a possibility of receiving a Medical furtherance again as part of CEC application process even if my spouse has been give a clean chit by public health care for inactive TB?

The first medical furtherance was received as part of my spouse visitor visa to Canada and she reported to public health care upon landing where she was given a clean chit.
