The foremost step is to appear for IELTS language test. If your aim is to get study permit for JAN 2011 intake then you need to get started right now. IELTS scores are required to get an offer letter from a SPP recognized college. If you are good at English then it takes just one month of preparation to get IELTS bands close to 6.5 Upto 3rd week of Sept most of the colleges will be busy with managing the students from Sept 2010 intake. So if you want to get an offer-letter from a college then you can apply for that in first/second week of October. To apply for offer letter in the month of October you need to appear for IELTS by the 3rd week of September. The results of the IELTS exam reach you in 13 working days
After IELTS is done with good scores you need to search for the courses which are related to your previous education and work experience. A wrongly chosen course can result into visa refusal by CHC so the student have to do some good research to choose a course. Also there are few courses like wire-networking which are filled pretty quick so if a student is looking for such a course its always better to apply early for these courses. You will need to send out IELTS score sheet, previous educational degrees/certificates, Passport, Resume (if you have some work experience) to the college in order to get the offer letter. All these documents should be attested xerox copies. Once all documents are submitted, if the student is selected the offer-letter will reach him in 2-3 weeks.
If you get your offer letter by first week of november then you can start the education loan processing thing. The whole process can take up upto 3-8 weeks upon the bank and the number of documents required. There are lot of documents that are required to attain an education loan. The quickest method of getting an education loan is against a FD. All the banks provide education loan upto 90% of the amount of FD means a FD of 10 lacs can get you an education loan of 9 lacs. Upon getting the education loan the bank will provide you the loan sanction letter. If you get the loan sanction letter by last week of november then you are on time.
After getting the loan sanction letter you can pay your fee (as the last date of paying your fees is about 3 months prior to the date of start of course) You can pay the fee from your own pocket as well as from the education loan in both the cases the fees is wire transferred to the account stated in the offer-letter and the student is given a loan disbursement letter which states the details of the fee paid. All this process takes about 3-4 days. So once the fee is paid you are ready to file you case with CHC by the first week of December (you are just in time)
