HI ALL
I moved into canada last year.tried hard for a job could not find a suitable one floated a small company and trying to do business but as luck would hv it got a break for some goods from my home country had to travel back n forth n my family preffered to stay back in the home country after staying in canada for couple of months. can see that being a primary applicant might fall short of few months to meet the residency requirments and my family member might fall short of more period.please guide if possible whats the best way out to retain my PR under the given circumstances as i have another four years to go.thanks

You and your family do need to meet the residency obligation in order to ensure you can keep your PR status. Since you still have four years to go - you'll just need to make sure that all of you spend enough time living in Canada to meet the residency obligation.

If you aren't able to meet the residency obligation, then you can try returning permanently to Canada before your PR cards expire and hope you are not reported at the border for failing to meet the residency obligation. If you are reporting - you will have to appear at a hearing to argue why you should be allowed to keep your status - and you should expect to lose your status since you have no H&C reasons for failing to meet the residency obligation. If you are not reported at the border, then you would have to remain in Canada without leaving until you meet the residency obligation - and then apply to renew your PR cards.

Please if you could explain what are H andC REASONS
Humanitarian & Compassionate. Sometimes you can keep your PR status if you had reasons beyond your control that kept you from returning to Canada to meet the residency obligation. Reasons accepted are typically serious personal illness or the serious illness of a family member (you must provide evidence to prove your case such as hospitalization records). Economic reasons (e.g. working outside of Canada) and educational reasons are NOT accepted under H&C.
