I have applied for MEng Electronic System Engineering for Fall2012 as Co-op Program, always heard from different sources that in MEng if we fail to hire supervisor then we autometically qualify for course-based.

Now look below, I dont know what to do..

And also let me know what exactly do i need to email supervisors so that they will accept me

Unfortunately there is no course-based Engineering program. If there is no supervisor available to supervise you, then your application is rejected. We simply don't have enough room for the great many applicants who apply. However, if you are not accepted for this reason, you can always request to be re-reviewed at a later date if you find a supervisor willing to take you as their student. Please find the Engineering department's website, where you will find a list of contacts. Just let them know that you are interested in the program, and ask if they would be interested in supervising you. There is no extra requirements for the co-op program.

I applied for research based program in Concordia , I could not get any supervisor so they gave me admission in the course base..............In your case they are asking you to contact some supervisor because there is no course base engineering program........and supervisor is also needed for co-op program.......

Hi,

There is nothing strange about this email. It clearly mentions, that UoR, does not offer course based M.Engg. programme, and you need to be accepted by a dept. professor, who will be your supervisor, so as to continue in the programme, or else you will be automatically rejected, and considered for a later date. Go to the Engineering dept.'s website and contact, by sending a formal request via email to all the professors , asking them to consider you for this programme and if they are willing to be your supervisor. You should preferably attach your detailed resume and mention all your academic achievements/ research papers written or co-written/ research seminars attended/ any work experience that might help you.. best if it's in R&D field and thus indicating your overall interest and inclination towards a research based course.

member is required. We accept the top 20-30 qualified students, and there is no financial sources available to them.
You can (after a semester or two) apply for COOP, or internship, or take other paying jobs on your student visa both

Then why this Contradicting reply form this Amy, who seems to be working in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR). You should immediately forward Amy's email to this person (I assume is a professor) Tom Conroy, and ask..why is Amy giving such contradicting reply..and when and how will you know, that if you are among those 20-30 top qualified candidates?

Well gentlemen, when you are approaching universities directly, contact admission office (department where you are applying in) rather international office. Try to get few people name as well as professors of that department to make sure you are getting same information and not contradiction. It happens most of the time for many reasons as the information between international office and the concern department variate.

As far as I know and goes through the process MEng program is just either course based or co-op in University of Regina.There is no research based program in MEng so there is no need to look for a supervisor.If you want to go for a research based program you have to choose MASc program and also need to find a potential supervisor otherwise just mention name of the proposed supervisor and research interest and they will contact them once your application is complete .I also talked with Amy she is new to Engineering I guess and some time don't know what she is saying.As I have also applied for research based MASc program in the same university as you and also found a potential supervisor. Initially I have applied for MEng program but later on I found a potential supervisor who was agreed to supervise my research.And when I spoke with Amy over the phone to change my course program from MEng to MASc she asked me a funny question 'whether you want to go for MASc co-op or course based program?' I laughed and told her that co-op and course based program is MEng not MASc which is research based only .
The thing is that in MEng program the selecting criteria is really tough as a lot many people apply and only those get into who have got outstanding marks in past.whereas in MASc it's hard to find a supervisor but as soon as you found a supervisor and your credentials are good your admission is almost done depends you fulfil their minimum requirements.

@ SAQ I have gotr admisison in Masc process systems engineeirng at UoR. well what I have figured out they seem not to hire Meng students. they email every international student to look for supervisor. I myself went for Meng then prof emailed me "do u want to switch from Meng to Masc?" I said yes and got LOA of Masc

well one senior there told me they need a lot of students to do work on different projects. but they can ofer admission to limited students every year, in my case I was lucky I suggest you noy yo wait just email them attach ur resume. simple is that
