Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had any experience sending or receiving PR card through Canadian or overseas custom etc? Does anyone know or please share knowledge when sending pr card via courier from canada to overseas such as using Fedex, what to put for the package content type? Document or product/commodity? And are we required to fill out the commercial invoice or other forms etc for either Canadian or overseas custom purpose while shopping PR card?

Thank you very much for your help

Thanks very much,

Will either side of the custom allow the pr card through; especially will the Canadian Custom send the pr card back to the canadian immigration authority if the custom find out the package content is pr card? Would anyone please advise whether need to fill a form or make statement etc to help and make the package going through the custom more smoothly? I read people reported in the forum that the passport got sent back due to absence of proper custom paperwork, hence I am wondering if there are any additional paper work need to be filled to accompany the courier package (whose content is pr card) to be on the safe side. Anyone had experience or knowledge please share your knowledge or experience.

Cheers

You are overthinking things there is no comparison between sending a PR card versus a passport overseas. The latter is a legal and arguably a more valuable document supporting the holder travelling whereas a PR card simply shows the holder can reside in Canada as a PR.

People do short landings all the time and have friends mail PR cards to home country all the time either through normal mail or courier depending which method they feel happiest with. Customs will likely have zero interest in a PR card whereas maybe if they did intercept a passport they may look for more convincing documentation to ensure nothing illegal was going on such as ID theft or something more serious.

If it makes you feel happier then I guess on customs form put document/PR card but personally and others can comment I doubt customs will be at all interested in a PR card.

As for receiving country as you have not shared which country then difficult for forum members to share any experience of issues with the receipt.

Thanks for your help.

I am sorry that I forgot to mention that the receiving country is Australia. Please share your knowledge and experience.

Is this your first PR(Phase 1) card ? A renewal is a Phase 2 card.
