What would be the best way to provide additional docs that establish the genuineness of the relationship? I just thought of some additional proof that should help our case.

I had already emailed the VO attaching some files, and since I had received no confirmation, I used the case specific form. Still no confirmation however.

Should I fax or mail the papers? We are going through Beijing.

Thanks.

I would mail them via a courier, with a cover letter including your file #. This is what I did. It would be great to just do it through the case inquiry, but I don't know for sure if that would work.

I would prepare all the additional proof, but hold off sending until they request it. They may not request anything further, so sending more stuff might actually cause delays. I know of an applicant who got the PPR and included additional docs...now her case is stalled and she is kicking herself for sending the extra stuff (they never requested it).

The way I see it (most visa offices)...if you get the PPR, that basically means the visa officer is satisfied with everything. If they wanted more stuff, they would have asked for it prior to the PPR.

That's the point - file has been transferred to VO, but they haven't even started looking into it (at least nothing shows up in ecas), so no PPR ... Obviously, if PPR was issued, I wouldn't bother sending more proof ...

If what you originally sent was solid, then I wouldn't send anything further unless they request it. It will definitely cause delays because the visa officer will need to assess the additional information.

Just my two cents...

Hope e-cas changes to in process for you...and soon!

I agree with FS, I would hold out on sending until they ask, 2nd stage approval will not be denied without them requesting additional information or an interview, you will be given the chance to prove your case before they deny you. There is no sense in delaying your case when your not even sure that the delay will be worth it, I know I have read here (on this forum) e-mail, fax and snail mail everything but I read somewhere on CIC website that sending additional information multiple ways could end up delaying things more... like you sending something via e-mail and snail mail they get the email and process it, causing a delay then they get to the snail mail which ends up causing a second delay.

Waiting until they ask you for proof defeats the purpose. I didn't feel I had sent enough evidence, and was worried that my husband would be called for an interview, which would easily delay the app by 2 months or more. I have heard others recommend not to do this. However, I can say sending additional proof did NOT delay my application. Step 2 was processed in 2.5 months!! But of course, I don't know if sending additional proof helped or not. What did you send in for proof the first time?

are you sure they even had time to match it up to your application? My file is now in process 1.5 months after sponsorship approval, considering the vast amounts of mail they get per day and the fact that when you are requested to send things in it delays up a 2-3 months? unless of course you got lucky and had a VO that told you they received it I dunno... just my opinion....

Fair enough. If you doubt that the evidence you originally sent is going to pass the test, by all means, send additional evidence. I don't quite understand how it would defeat the purpose? I mean, sending additional evidence is going to cause a delay in most cases, as the visa officer will need to assess what you have sent, no? Surely they must spend more time...and depending on the evidence, do more background checks based on what you sent...at least that is how I would do things if I were a visa officer.

I just think that if you sent a solid app in the first place, there is no point in sending anything unless they request it. I prepared additional proof of relationship evidence and more evidence of my intention to return to Canada. I was very close to sending it, but then we received the PPR without requests for any additional evidence. I think the possible delay is really dependent on the visa office and visa officer. With a potential 17 month timeline, I sided with caution and decided to wait to see if they wanted anything further.

i just went ahead and sent additional proof of our relationship without them asking. We sent it with our Passport when we got PPR and everything turned out ok for us. alot of time went by since we sent the application originally and we had more/new proof so we sent it.

I should have said defeat MY purpose :) (which was to avoid the delay getting called for an interview would cause)

I'm confused about this PPR though. With my VO, PPR is the final step. So no I wouldn't submit documents after getting the PPR. I guess this must not be the case with other VO.

yes they definitely received it, as we included it when submitting other documents they needed (a security check). So they wouldn't have approved the app until they had that security check. I guess it depends on the VO.

I send additional evidence shortly after sponsor approval when i knew it got transfered and i had the application number. We only send some emails over a whole year, pictures and visit proofs (plane ticket etc), and after i was reading how much others sent i felt as if its not enough and send also skype logs, facebook printouts and wrote one page about our story with timeline. And we got processed really fast, it didnt delay anything, from transfer to DM on ecase it was about 2 and a half months.

I think if you time the additional proof with the transfer, so theres enough time to match it up and before they really start reading into it, it shouldnt delay anything. Also i wouldnt send tons of proof! The more you send the longer they need to go through it. In my case i really didnt send a lot at first but also i made sure that the additional proof was not overwhelming them.
I could imagine though if you send it a lot later than the transfer when they already processing it (even if ecases says just received), it might could delay things.
