I'm a temporary semi-skilled worker, working here at Edmonton as a food counter attendant for almost a year now it my first time to work abroad and what a big privileged to work here in Canada ,my question for you guys is there any ways I can be eligible to apply for Permanent Residency here in Canada, since I'm not qualified for the skilled work, Canadian class experienced category and what makes it hard it is very difficult to be nominated for Provincial Nominee because competition among employee and plus my Bachelor Degree and my work experienced is irrelevant to each other? Life here in Canada is more better than the Philippines I want to give my family a better life, especially my daughter and the only way I can do that is to become a permanent resident, please sir/mam any word of advice from you?

Unfortunately the only Permanent Resident option that appears available is the employer driven stream of the AINP. Your employer must be able to apply for you. Please check here: www.albertacanada.com/ainp

The semi-skilled worker program was never set up to give people permanent residence. It was only set up to fill worker shortages.

a blessed day to all

I`m a worker here in brooks, alberta under semi-skilled. My employer applied me for permanent resident last march and returned my papers 2nd week of april. All and all plus the correction.I submitted to them my application last April 29,2009.From there I haven`t receive any news about my application. I`m loosing hope now, maybe because some of my co workers who submitted there papers last feb. 2009 already receive there medical request for there family. My employer told me that they have`t receive any answer from the goverment .Can anyone enlighten me about this situation

Did you apply under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Employer Driven stream? If you did, contact the Immigrate to Alberta Info Service and see what the AINP time lines are. 1-877-427-6419.

Good luck

To the best of my knowledge they are still giving nominations, the only problem is that the office is swamped with a limited amount of officers to process applications. It will take time, but the program is still open.
