Selling a temporarily imported car

I moved here from USA few months back on closed work permit and I temporarily imported my car. As per RIV, a temporarily imported car can't be sold here in Canada. But, is it possible to pay the duty, make the necessary mods and permanently import the car and sell it? I don't have a PR yet. But, I'm just wondering whether there is a way to sell this car.
My US visa has expired and I can't enter USA. However, I have a friend in USA. I can sign off the title to him so that he can sell it. But, is it possible to ship/export the car when I'm currently in Canada and my US visa has expired?
Has anyone ever been a similar situation and what did you do?

@techguy2000, what was your experience- please share. Can anyone else also share their inputs? As a non-US citizen whose H1B has expired and he has temporarily imported his car in canada and now have to leave to a third country how can he sell or dispose the car in canada or sell it to some US companies from canada (note in this case no US title, we only have canadian temporary title doc). Please suggest.
