Self Employed in Canada question

Hey there,

I moved to Ontario at the end of December. Since April of 2016 I have been a freelance web developer/designer with all my contracts being UK based. That hasn't changed since the move. I have setup an office here and continue to take on work from the UK as I would had I been still living there.

In April, my accountant (UK based) will organise my tax bill to pay to the HMRC (UK Tax Revenue) which will cover income and expenditure for the 2016 tax year.

My question is, what is my situation with regards to paying Canadian taxes? None of my work is sourced in Canada so I'm a little unsure of this.

I'd really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks

Adam

Technically you would have to declare foreign income still on your tax return. Best to acquire an accountant, speak to the CRA, as well as CIC (if you're not a permanent resident).
