Are passports for all people looking to move required at the very beginning of the application process, or not until later. With the COVID shut down we haven't been able to get passports completed for our three kids. I'm concerned it's going to slow things down (more than COVID already has......)

Another quick question: For settlement funds proof, do they look down on inherited money as part of your available funds? We received a sizable inheritance this year and will receive another part next year. Is this looked at as "gifted" and suspicious??

Here's my timeline for self-employed.

02/28/20-Delivered
03/03/20-AOL
03/04/20-Biometrics Fee Requested
03/09/20-Biometrics Fee Received

Thanks to those posting their timelines! Our application arrived April 15, 2020, but we haven't received our AOR yet.

I have a few questions for folks who have applied:

Has anyone had their application returned? The two things that I'm worried about are the photos we submitted and the self-addressed envelops. We didn't prepay for shipping on the self-addressed envelops, and after we submitted we realized that the photos are the wrong dimensions even though we gave the photographer the printed requirements page. I think they're just used to doing the standard passport photos in the US, which is what we submitted. Wondering if others realized the may have messed up minor portions of their application and how those mistakes went over...

Also, how did you fill out your 6A response? That's the one describing current financial resources. All of our finances are from our business, so we explained that and outlined what we filed for taxes in the previous four years. Wondering how other folks approached this and how long of a response they gave.

Okay, last one, has anyone successfully applied without a lawyer or representative?

A few more questions
- How did you value your business for the Schedule 6A? I added up my business assets but it's also asking for the value of the business? How did you arrive at that #?

- What is a Fixed Deposit? (for the proof of funds)

We are in business class.. We need to provide Net Worth Certificate.. A consolidation of all your assets and liabilities including personal and business assets.. Inherited assets can be included in your personal assets and its not looked down by them

Settlement Funds : The application is asking for this information. How do they view inherited funds? We have an inheritance from family that we have asked be distributed in "chunks", so we will be getting $20,000 (USD) of this inheritance in January 2021. Are we able to count this in Settlement funds?

What about funds from the sale of a home? I know equity can't be counted as settlement funds, but if you have cash on hand from the sale of property, what do they count that as?

Cash = readily available to you = accept as settlement funds.

Hello Goyal
You can look up the eligible occupations in the complete NOC list and use the search bar to find all NOC occupations starting with the 51 or 52.

Examples of eligible occupations would be :
  • Librarians,
  • Editors and journalists,
  • Singers,
  • Dancers,
  • Comedians ans actors,
  • Photographers,
  • Athletes and coaches,
  • Designers, etc.
You have to go under the subcategory in the list and check the description for each JOB and see if your work experience match with any of it.

Hello everyone!

I submitted my Self-employed application (Producer) in Jan 2020, and completed biometrics in March 2020.

I prepared the documentation all by myself. I did not hire any immigration lawyer.

Just waiting now. Timeline end is estimated to be Nov 2021.

Thanks. Are you using a lawyer or going it alone?
