Thanks Jenny, that was really helpful.

I would appreciate if anyone else, who has the similar case can throw some light on it. Just to have a 2nd opinion.

Regards,
Saurabh
Hi Guys, sorry to bring this again. Anyone with the similar situation. Please help. Thanks.

Right. Before applying I spent an hour or so (and a couple hundred dollars) talking to an immigration law firm about options and what to expect. They said among many useful things that our application would probably sit there for a year or more before anything happened to it. So we just settled in to wait. And checked the status habitually every day anyhow.
Did you take a language test for your application? Right now all the testing sites anywhere near me are closed. I'm not sure if one is even necessary.

Hello friends,
Did anyone here send their application (to Sydney NS) with the DHL courier service? If yes, which phone number did you provide for the courier?

Thank you. There wasn’t any phone number. But I found this CIC phone number on Google, 1-888-242-2100. Maybe it will help someone. :)
Oh my apologies, I was thinking about something else (due to some other conversations in the forum) and thought you were asking for WES's number.
Sorry, no I don't have CIO's number.

I am sorry.

Language test is mandatory. You will need to wait for test centers to reopen before you can apply.

If I am not mistaken, for self-employed application, language test is not mandatory. Unless if you want/need to claim additional points.

It's possible - maybe something has changed since I looked at the requirements last?

I see this in the current guide which makes it look like it's still mandaotry.

Proof of Language Proficiency
For your application to be eligible for processing, you must include original results of one of the following language tests from a testing agency designated by IRCC with your application:

Hi Guys, thanks for this awesome thread. I have few questions and appreciate if anyone can help me with these.

I am running a wedding photography business since last 3 years and want to apply as a self employed photographer.

Q1. My company is not registered, but it has an online presence and there is a bank account in the name of the company in which I receive payment from my clients. Is it mandatory to have your business registered? Will my case be weakened because of this?

Q2. The contracts I do with my clients are on mails only and not on the official govt papers or letterheads. Can I use it to support my case?

Q3. My education is not related to the photography. I am an IT graduate but later on moved to Photography. Will I get points for my education in this case?

Work as a graphic designer for 21 years now

1) Didnot have a company registered. I showed my portfolio of global clients. I didnot even have a company bank account, and we donot pay taxes (at that time).

2) Didnot need to show hard or soft copies of invoices etc. If they need it you can print it out, and send it with a note saying everything was done as softcopies.

3) I have an MBA, but my field is graphic design.

Hi there! I'm also applying as a self-employed wedding, portrait, and editorial photographer. Here's what I've submitted:
- My company is "registered" in the state of WI as a business (in that I pay sales tax, etc. You are not required to have a business license for this particular type of business in WI). Are you paying sales tax if necessary and can you prove that?
- I have a DBA bank account set up for my business under my business name (Amanda LastName DBA Business Name)
- I have been active for 12 years but they are only really asking for information from the last 5. My lawyer suggested sending ALL supporting documentation I can send,it's never too much, to support my self-employment case.
- Yes, you can use contracts. I sent contracts AND invoices to support what I make with my business. I also use jotform.com for online contract keeping, and that helped organization-wise.
- My education is in Sociology, not photography. What I sent in with my application is ANY workshops/classes/or training I received for photography for support of my case.

Hope this helps! Since we are applying under the same NOC I'm happy to trade information as we make our way through the process!
