Hello! to one and all present in this thread.

My son is studying in Canada on a 2 year study permit and I am interested applying for PR under self-employed program whereby the processing time is 22 months.

If I applied, will there be any future problem for my son to GET open work permit after completing his graduation in Canada ?

Any response is highly appreciated.

There are two points here, neither of which really belongs on this particular forum.

Open work permits and education stuff have their own forums and are nothing to do with federal self employed visa applications. As for your application, you've not asked anything about that...

You're conflating two different things here. Open work permit has its own forum as theguv mentioned. If you are interested in applying under the federal self-employed stream for him, please ask your questions as it relates to this. What is his NOC? How and why does he qualify for this program? Is he paying for his education through self-employment, etc, etc????

Your son can get a PR status on his own if he works for at least a year post study. (he can apply through Canadian Experience Class) This does not affect your application in any way. You can choose to include him in your Self Employed application if he is below 18, and it doesn't change anything...I’m not sure what happens if he’s above 18 though

ha! On POF IRCC says you should have settlement funds readily available. You can either wait till you have sold your properties to apply or you apply and send POF via webform but make sure you have an explanation for any lump sum that suddenly shows up in your account...this is where you need LOE. If you are sending your application without POF I see no need for the LOE, it could backfire.
Thanks, much clearer now.

Hello,

Earlier today, I looked up the online tool (the one that is updated daily) to check my application status. It seems the status has changed from 'Application Received' to 'In Process'. There is an explanation to both legends offered on the site, but I seem to have seen the status change back and forth between 'Application Received' and 'In Process' a couple of times, which seemed curious to me. Has anyone else experienced this? (I applied on Apr 23 this year, and received AOR on May 23)

Update:

Application received: 16 Sept. 2019
AOR & request for biometrics: 17 Oct. 2019

I’ve seen people with much shorter gaps between application & AOR recently, but apparently the process is still working, so I’ll just hold tight and cross my fingers.

I also have a question: On the biometrics collection page, it says I must provide biometrics before traveling to Canada. I assume that this means “traveling for the purpose of relocation under this application” and not traveling for business on a visitor’s visa. I have a business trip in BC and am leaving on Saturday and just got this request, and there’s no way I could get biometrics done between now and then?

It's basically requesting for details of your financial assets, savings and liabilities i.e. credit card debt, mortgages, etc.

11A - all your savings and current account numbers and the current amount you have in them and any fixed deposit accounts you have.
11B - any property you have or inherited
11C - stocks and any other personal investments like bonds, etc
11D - do you have a business that's related to the stream you're applying under? If so, provide these details as well.
11E - pensions and any other assets you have that don't fall under A - D
11F & G - liabilities (debt) - CC, loans, etc

If any section doesn't apply to you, just put NA. Don't forget to include 11J, which is an explanation for how you accumulated all the money/assets in 11A - E. Hope this helps.

@livingonajetplane2016, I would love you to throw more light on this.
You mentioned you didn't include POF in your application. So in this schedule 6A form under net worth ie 11 (H&I) does it mean that the total amount available for settlement in Canada must reflect in my accounts balance /fixed deposits and will I have to maintain that balance until my application is completely processed even if it takes 12months or more?

Yes, the total amount you have for settlement must be unencumbered liquid funds. It cannot be assets. You don't have to maintain that balance after application but you have to have that amount when they ask you for POF or further POF later on in the application process. And it cannot be a large one time deposit without an explanation. If you have less than what you should have in cash when they ask for POF, they may likely refuse your application. HTH.

I’m in same boat, mine changed to ‘in process’ in August. When you first submit your application status is ‘application received’ after which it changes to ‘in process’. Once your application is forwarded to your local visa office and they receive it there it changes back to ‘application received’. Once the local visa office starts processing your application it changes to the final ‘in process’.

This also applies to PNP paper based.

Oh Thanks. Now I get it. I need to have it at the point of application submission and at the point when POF is requested for. Thanks a million

Currently I'm in Canada doing study and I want to apply for PR as self employed. Can I do that?
I have more than 3 years of experience in one industry.

It has been 16 months since I have applied and I got no words from cic after an AOR, I am pretty nervous.. My application consists of a lot of documents which might be the issue of why it takes so long. I ordered gcms notes but wow I got an email from cic saying that they can only give me the notes in 60 days because a lot of people asked it recently... Now is there anything I can do? I can even go to poland to the Warsaw office if I knew an officer would give me an update. Should I?
