Hi there,

My family just recently received communication from CIC requesting us to undergo medical examinations for our permanent residency application. Will somedy with the same experience help me find out if we should worry about our son with his medical exam because he has partial seizure disorder? Although he is a person with epilepsy, he has grown up to be healthy, without physical and mental disabilities. In fact he is graduating this year from his elementary grade.
Hoping to hear from anyone of you. Thanks...Ahyie

I do not have similar experience like you but I would like to highlight that medicals are to ensure that a person with communicable disease or incurable disease is not a burden on the canadian govt.As far as I know partial seizure is not communicable and as you have mentioned that your son is perfectly fine without physical or mental disabilities there is no reason he will be denied a PR. Infact he might prove an asset for the job requirements in that country after couple of years.Everything will be fine you are almost there.

All the best,

AP

Better prepare yourself with professional report (to avoid further information request later) indicating the medical condition of your son; indicating his disorder is controllable with "only" certain medicines, no need for special treatment, no need for special care where the boy is self caring and provide evidence of school as he is doing fine.

Very important to visit following (Designated Medical Practitioner Handbook Question 2 to see what the report should include):
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/dmp-handbook/appendix-09.asp

Also you may need to know how they assess medical condition:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/ob037.asp

Do not consider wishful thinking replies and take matter seriously to be on safe side and not to wasting more time.

Best wishes,

Just commenting: Of course, the above; is only if you wish to mention the whole story to the medical doctor .As far as I believe; many people passed with dangerous or infectious diseases (this is not your case) but visa officers or medical officers may only stuck on a little innocent child (as in your case) as he "may or would" cause excessive demand to the venerable society fund system..... forgetting in same time what they already accepted in the past of the well recognizable (Medically or Security) dangerous personals to go to Canada (for example as most fraud refugees who do not contribute a single cent to the society fund nor the country economy). This is the madness world we live in.
