Hi,

I just want to know if there is anyone who recently applied for a GCMS note and received any response specifically about a delay in their study permit application from outside of Canada. I want to know how long it took for you and if you are satisfied with the response. Additionally, I am curious about what they said in response. If there is anyone, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Not sure of your question. Notes take about a month. All the notes will says is the status of the file - eg. eligibility in process. There may be notes from the officer. It will not make any reference to the delay. If you have not been refused the permit then there will be no notes on why.

Do you know the status of your file? Has background been completed? Background length will depend where you live. Eligibility started?

My answer might not help you, but I found something about GCMS notes.

The GCMS notes shared to the applicant is of the date of GCMS application and not the day actually processed by the IRCC.

For example, if you apply for GCMS on 10th Dec, and you receive the notes on 10th Jan; what you actually received on 10th Jan is the status of the file as on 10th Dec.

This is what I found from my GCMS application. So I don't think GCMS is actually much helpful to check the status of a file. By the time you receive GCMS notes, a lot more would have had happened than what is shared in the GCMS notes you receive.

I submitted a GCMS note about 3 weeks ago, but I still haven't received a response. It's been over a year since I submitted my visa application, and it's still in process. I'm actually wondering what they will say in response. Is it worth it? Can this really help me out?

As for my file, the background verification and eligibility are still in progress. I've completed the biometric process, but the medical exam hasn't started yet. This is what I see in the tracker, and it's been about 7 months without any changes. I even deferred my study because I didn't receive my visa on time. Just to clarify, I am an applicant from Afghanistan, and I submitted my file from there.

Thanks for the clarification. Also, does the GCMS note take exactly a month or does it take longer? Do you have any information on this?

GCMS is not a response about a your file. It will tell you the status and maybe notes in your file. It may say eligibility under review. It can take at least a month, maybe more. Biggest reason is you are from Afghanistan. Most apply for asylum. Background can take a long time. This involves security/police checks with the government and verifying that documents are authentic (passport, bank statements etc.). Not sure how IRCC will complete background check given it doesn’t have an embassy or relationship with the government. How are you going are you going to complete the medical?

Sorry, I didn't quite understand your question about how I will complete the medical. I was also wondering if there are any additional steps I should take. It's been about 5 months now, and I've submitted around 4 or 5 webforms directly to my visa office, but I haven't received any response. It's really frustrating and confusing to not know what's happening with my application and why it's taking so long.

What is your visa office? If you get a medical request, where are you going to do it with an IRCC approved physician?

I received the notes just after 30 days.
So, was it good? Are you really satisfied with the response? Did the officer actually note something important to you, or did they just send a generic response? Could you please explain it a bit more if possible? Thanks!

The visa office that's handling my application is in Abu Dhabi, and since there ain't no IRCC panel physician in Afghanistan, I'll have to go to Pakistan (the only country where I can go and get my medical check done). and just so you know, I already did my biometric in Pakistan.

Your notes may make note that you live in Afghanistan and that verifying documents/bank statements/immigration information/criminal checks is not possible.
