Seeking Assistance in Converting a Temporary Resident Visa to PR Card

Hi,

I am a Naturalized Canadian National residing in Pakistan for the past 4 years. I got married a year ago with a Pakistani National. Now I wish to move to Canada with my husband and settle there. I had intentions of applying for spousal sponsorship from Pakistan but the processing time is too long i.e. 32 months.

Therefore, I was hoping to apply for my husband's visit visa i.e. Temporary Resident Visa and accompany him to Canada with intentions of applying for inland spousal sponsorship during our stay there.

However, we had a few concerns of our own that we were hoping to clarify prior to proceeding any further:

1. Since I will be travelling with my husband to Canada, do we still need the "letter of invitation" as per the requirements of visit visa?

2. What are means of extending my husband's stay in Canada with me until his PR application is processed?

3. Is it possible to apply for my husband's inland spousal sponsorship while he stays with me in Canada as a tourist?

Any assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1. Yes he will need a letter of invitation
2. Yes he can extend his visa by applying to extend his stay within canada
3. Yes you can sponsor him inland while on a visitor visa.

There is no guarantee that he will be given a TRV however, because he has to satisfy the visa officer that he will go back to Pakistan.

Hi Ortom,

1. What if I am unable to provide a letter of invitation? Isn't travelling with a Canadian spouse a good enough reason to surpass the requirement of the letter?

2. For upto how long can my husband extend his tourist visa?

3. Our main concern is that I want my husband to extend his stay in Canada until our spousal sponsorship is processed and we receive his PR card. So, what are the means/ ways of extending his tourist visa in Canada?

Thanks

Are you not able to type and sign a letter inviting yr husband?
The fact that u dont live in Canada will make it hard to invute him to Canada! U might have to come yo Canada by urself first!...you being a citizen doesnt grant any rights to ur husband! He still needs to meet all visitor requirements!

I beleive u can extand the vusa for 1 year, if ur husband applies for inland pr, he doesnt need to keep a legal status.
The visa is extanded just like a visa application, but you select extand visa on the forms
