Hi to all whoever is doing effort to read this post . Guys I am seeking advice to know about does low income effect on inland spouse sponsorship application ? Actually I filed this year in march 2016 inland sponsorship application for my common law partner . We being together last year . Declared earlier this year common law . Last year income tax we filed togetger as common law relationship. Both of us had t4 for about 35k . This year after filed the application I got baby and my partner she staying at home with the baby and taking care of him . For this whole year she is on maternity leave not making really huge amount of money at all . On the other hand due to economy crisis I m not getting either enough hours. I am expecting this year my t4 would be less than 15k and my wife she is getting maternity money as EI , which I think is going to be add in t4 for her. Probably her t4 is going to be around 11k . So total house hold income would be 26k around. So far I m not taking any EI or subsidy from government. Would u guys suggest me , does low income keep matter for inland spousal sponsorship application?? Any comments and experience sharing would be appreciate. Looking forward to hear from you guys soon . Kindly thanking you

I'm not sure about inland applications but as you probably know that for outland applications there is no income requirements.

I would assume this to be the same for both inland and outland as long as you are able to show how you are supporting yourselves. Since you are already managing with whatever income sources you have at the moment, that shows that the income amount is sufficient.

I doubt that this will become an issue. But if you like you can make a pre-empted case specific inquiry stating your current job situation and that you are looking for more; also that your wife is currently on maternity leave and she will probably go back to work when possible.

My 2 cents...

No, there are no income requirements for Inland apps, unless you have dependents. You just cannot collect welfare, EI is fine.

I just want to clarify, it's dependents of dependents. Not just dependents. This is a key fact that often gets left out, and probably scares some people off or makes them panic. When my husband first started looking into sponsoring me and my daughter, he stumbled onto misinformation like that before the correct information and was incredibly worried that he wouldn't be able to sponsor us.

EI is not Social Assistance. Social Assistance is called just that, and will come from Social Services. Each province may rename it, but it's the same thing. There are a few other benefits which will give you a T5007, but only Social Assistance (for folks who have no means at all, and look to the government for help) is what qualifies. EI, Disability, WSB, are all not considered Social Assistance.

CIC IP-2 (the processing manual for CIC officers, for Processing Sponsorship Applications): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip02-eng.pdf ; Pg 22; Section 5.30 - 5.33 (Pay particularly close attention to 5.33):

"
5.30. Financial requirements
The financial test is needed to prove that sponsors can support sponsored persons
for the period of the undertaking. For more details, see Minimum Necessary Income
Requirement: Low-Income Cut-Off levels (LICO), section 5.32, Exception to Minimum
Necessary Income Requirement, section 5.33 and Low Income Cut-Off and Quebec
Income Scale, Appendix F.

...
5.33. Exception to minimum necessary income requirement
The ability to meet the minimum income requirement is mandatory, unless the
sponsor is sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or a
dependent child where the child has no dependent children of their own. This
exception also applies to persons under the age of 18 whom the sponsor intends to
adopt in Canada.

The sponsor will still have to show they have an income. But for Spouses, Common-Law and Conjugal partnerships, and their immediate dependants (so you cannot be a grand parent) are exempt from LICO.

No. You are exempted from LICO. If your baby had a baby, then you would not be exempted from LICO.
