Hi,
I am seeking advice for which universities should I choose to apply for my under-graduate studies in Canada. Following are my credentials:

Country: Pakistan
Year: 29 yo
Gender: Male
Matriculation (10th): General Science, 2001
Intermediate (High school - 12th) : Commerce private, 2016 (60% marks obtained) [Why commerce? It is the only subject for private candidates other than arts and humanities]
Work experience: 13+ Years
Certifications related to my studies: Cisco, Microsoft, Vmware, Junipers.
Bank statement: 35 lac PKR + mother's saving certificates worth 20 lac and property on her name worth more than a crore.
family ties in Pakistan: mother, wife, 2 kids.
Family ties in Canada: Brother in law and her wife living on PR in Alberta.
IELTS: registered for March. lets just assume it will be 6.5 or 7.0

I am worried for two things mainly:
1. Universities offering courses in computer science clearly asking for science subjects in 12th standards. Will that be a problem for me as I chose commerce to at least have high school status?
2. Can visa officer raise objection because of that? I have my certifications and work experience to justify the gap between studies but he might be concerned why I chose commerce to pass my high school.

Based on my profile, can someone help me to choose a university which can levy the admission requirements for some students based on their work experience or certifications?

My preference is:
- NAIT
- SAIT
- U of Alberta
- U of Calgary
- U of Waterloo

Thanks

hi,
if you are intending to apply for fall 2016, then please don't try as they have waitlisted applications already. other than that, in my opinion you should chose a college as it may accept you.
BEST OF LUCK!!

Thanks neerav,
I am planning for 2017 January session.

Can you suggest a college in Alberta (Near Edmonton if possible) which is easy to get in to? I heard NAIT is really competitive and same for SAIT.

you got it right. considering your marks, it will be tough for you to get into any of the mentioned institutions. you should try in some college I suggest.
BEST OF LUCK

Hi,
Yes but which college? :)

NAIT and SAIT are colleges too. I am pretty sure I won't get admission there easily unless a sensible person look at my resume there and consider my work experience and certifications for the admission which is almost none to possible.

Do you have any name in mind for which college should I try? Or suggest me which provincial education system is flexible for average students of Asia? Such as Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, etc.

you can definitely try for Humber, Centennial, Niagara, Algonquin, conestoga, George brown, Georgian and many more.
P.S. these are in Ontario. but are pretty good ones.

Wonderul! Thanks Neerav.

Just last question. Hope you don't mind ;)

I heard Ontario colleges, universities are expensive and jobs market for International student are saturated? Is it true? Lets say I earn 4800CAD a month (+/-). Can I afford my studies + a 2 bed condo/apartment + 2 kids and a wife without additional job in Canada?

there's not much difference in the fees of all the colleges when you are an international student. the fees will be around 14-15K CAD per year. the amount you are saying is a little less for 4 people. also, as Canada is struggling in recession, Ontario is the only place with an economy that is still booming.
ALL THE BEST
