Hi all I just wanted to know how difficult it would be to be granted a second extension to stay in Canada. As most of you know my fiancée (now husband)was accepted for extension in November. They allowed him 6 months.my husbands 1st extension expires mid May... Can we apply again with letters from myself and family etc.showing that we are supporting him during his stay again and while his PR is being processed. Can we ask for an additional 6 months or more? Thanks everyone.

yes you can request an extension and if you guys have already submitted your sponsorship/PR application just attach the proof and this time request 1 year extension. follow the same procedure you did last time.

Can somebody please tell me if I can go about the same route as before? But only difference is with marriage certificate handed in? How difficult would it be to be successful second time around?

Hi , right now We have letters from myself and both sides of our families showing they will support my husband during his stay. I have letter from my employer stating my hours and pay. I have our joint bank account statements. I have receipts for extension and PR .We are still waiting for our marriage certificate. We need more time to gather required documents for his PR ( sponsorship application) pictures, medical, police clearance etc.... Just wondering by submitting new document said marriage certificate with extension application Is it likely hewill be allowed to stay again until we get all our needed documents for pr. Thanks

I also applied for my visa extension and I'm tense like you. :-[

What I have heard here is: if you applied for a spouse sponsorship (inland), it is very unlikely that they will deny ( but we never know).
I applied for the PR process and I showed them the proofs that I applied when I sent my visitor extension.

As you haven't applied so far, what you could do to prove the intention of applying is to pay the fees for Residence Permanent and sent to them.

I read in this forum (I tried to find the topic but I didn't) about a guy who did this and it worked: he was in your situation: about to apply for the PR but the documents weren't ready to be sent. So, he paid the fees, sent the receipt along with the visitor extension application, he wrote an explanation letter telling them that he had the intention to apply, but he hadn't had because the documents weren't ready.... and he was granted the extension.

If your wedding certificate is not ready until your deadline to apply for the extension, sent that document that they give you after the wedding cerimony ( if you got married in Canada) and the proof that you applied for the wedding certificate but you haven't received so far.

Good luck !

Thanks mc2015 I have all my fees paid upfront with receipts . I guess I will just send it all like before and hope for the best... Hopefully others can shed some light on this situation and is there anything else I'm missing or can do to get another successful extension for my husband. What else could I say or submit? Really nervous as usual :(

Hi I need to know some important information regarding letters from family stating support for my husband during his stay. My father wants to state accommodation and financial help in the letter BUT there is only one problem and I was told its a big one. My father has a criminal record from many years ago. Will this affect my husbands extension and PR? Also would it be safer for my stepmother to write the letter instead of my father? Thanks
