Dear Friends,
Can anybody help with info about the following question.
Is it true that someone should pay 6 months deposit to rent an search for accommodation. If it is apartment - will it be around 1300 CAD*6???
 
Hard to say...

I would say especially if you have no credit history, references or guarantors and want to secure the reservation, you might as well pay the 6 months deposit to sweeten the offer with the landlord or his agent.

Hi, this is not in all cases. It depends on the individual landlord or management of the property you are interested in. Some property owners, demand for full payment upfront, some will accept post dated checks, yet others will accept just 2 months rent, that is the first and last months rent even when you don't have credit history and employment offer.

I searched for accommodation in Mississauga, Ontario last year until I found a place where they waived the credit history and employment details requirements. They accepted my offer of paying 3 months rent upfront but eventually only collected 2 months from me. I believe they were convinced that I would be able to meet my monthly rent payments and land a job quickly. They were right :)

So I suggest you land and try many different rental opportunities until you find one that fits your circumstance.
 
I'm planning for Ontario. I shortlisted waterloo city. How should i look for accommodation there online. Pls help me with links. Tjanks in advance

kijiji.ca and try to contact the owners through whatsapp. They will respond

You will get alot of idea by this

But i must tell you in Canada, house goes on rent like a blink of eye, For e.g. if you are in Canada and you search ad in kijiji .ca and you open the ad and decided to contact 1 day later, its gone! [Talking about good and new houses] - old one: they are waiting for you forever!
